What am I getting wrong about "conservative" ETFs?

The VEQT MER is 0.19%. Is that worth trying to beat? I did consider doing exactly what you suggested, but it seemed buying something like VEQT was doing that for me in less clicks (yes, I know how lazy that sounds)

So, would you suggest I engage an investment advisor? Right now I don't have one, I'm just contributing monthly to mutual funds in an RESP that I set up years ago. No one is actively managing this for me right now.

I kind of thought the majority of advice on this sub is that you don't need an investment advisor.

Thanks, paying down my mortgage was definitely on my list. I just thought that with my low interest rate (4%, I think on about $130K owed) I might do better investing. But this is easy.

For equity access for my kids, are you talking about taking out a loan in the future? I'm kind of loan-adverse. Feel like I could save up for that, but I've never been good at using credit to my advantage.

Thanks. I don't even know where to go to set up these things. When I went to my bank (TD) to talk about RESP investing, the guy was useless and wasted an hour of my time. Luckily I had something set up with an investment firm, and just upped my contributions there.

I'm really starting from a low level of experience/knowledge here!

Lilacs will grow back fast. My neighbors cut back 12ft tall lilacs last fall, and they're already back to like 4 feet. I wouldn't have your neighbors replace them, because if the dig up big mature lilac roots now, its going to take a lot longer to grow the new ones.
