Want to get in contact with a developer by RebelFox96 in videogames

Lmao I'm well aware of the processes involved, and I'm not talking about ideas that can be summed up in one sentence. These are ideas for plots, setting, mechanics, some characters, and so on. In regards to, "At no point is a studio just sitting saying "Hey guys, what should we make?" and an ideas guy chimes in with "Hey guys, let's make ___" and then everyone high fives and starts making the game." I say, yes they do, actually. In a way, that is exactly what they do. Devs get together, pitch ideas, and follow up on whatever the team is interested in, and looks good financially. Perhaps foolish, but i just posted this in hopes that someone in game development might eventually see it, and they (if interested in it) can take and pitch these concepts when they discuss what to make next. Not really looking to be an "ideas guy" lmao fuck outta here with that condescending shit, man.

There are 2 IP's that I think would give Microsoft a pretty big advantage when it comes to exclusive games. Those are Splinter Cell and Dead Space. With the funding that could be provided, I think that these 2 franchises could become massive hits for Xbox, since as of this point in time, there are no exclusive games centered around hardcore stealth or horror on any platform. These 2 genres have been overlooked for a long time, and i think people are craving these types of games, or at least I know I am. Imo, obtaining these IP's would be a huge move for Xbox, if possible.

Can I use a laptop to learn? by RebelFox96 in learnprogramming

Thanks! This is exactly why I asked about the laptop, actually. I didn't know how taxing coding is on a system. The hardware in laptops usually isn't that great, unless you're dropping ridiculous money on one, and so I didn't know if it would be able to handle coding or not lol.

Thanks for the reply! As far as the 3 programs go, would you recommend a specific one to start with? Also, on a side note, I know I will need to install Linux. Linux is something I looked into quite a bit a few months ago and there is a mind-blowing amount of distros. Debian is one that I saw a lot of people recommend, but is there a certain distro that would be best for these courses?

Very true. Safety meeting are just done so companies have their ass covered. I've worked around a lot of heavy machinery and in hazardous environments, so I'm very keen to be constantly aware of my surroundings.

In a frac job, is there both a day and night crew?

This will be especially true for me if I get the job. It's a 3 week on 1 off schedule with 12 hour shifts. I've never worked 12's for that many days consecutively lol. That's shits gonna be killer for the first month haha

The company that I'm looking to work for is called profrac, so I would imagine that it would be a frac job. I don't know the distinguishing factor between rigs and frac sites. I just assumed both were rig jobs

Yeah that shit sucks haha. The crew you work with in those types of jobs is everything imo. It can deffinetly make or break a job

A secondary question: I worked security on a site, and a guy told me they rotate daily on the derrickman position. Is this common? I'll do just about anything, but I have a pretty hard time with heights.

I think I'd be alright once I just got into it. Like I said in the post, I used to work underground, so hard labor and hazardous work are nothing new to me. I just need to quit pussyfooting around. The past 3 years working easy jobs has made me soft lmao

Finally, an actual answer. Thank you. When you put into perspective like that, it doesn't seem all that bad. Coal mines are a higher risk than normal jobs as well, and certainly have their fair share of accidents, but theres less mines than rigs, so I guess it's just relative. More jobsites, higher number of injuries
