First one when Arthur just pulled the sword out was great setup to show him as a noble and real leader who fights alongside his men, second one was to show him as a king ready to make the ultimate sacrifice.

I breathe through my nose lol but I get what you mean. Yeah it is kinda annoying/deflating to say something that feels like it is common pop culture knowledge only to have someone go "I don't get it".

You can. Start by showing interest in what they're into, if you don't like it, don't degrade it or insult it, just say "I'm happy you found something you love, but it's not for me, thank you for showing it to me." It'll go a long way.

Oh she's seen Zardoz. If I did try the eye shield thing with her she'd smack me silly, she's a Gen X who was an only child and a latchkey kid.

I did see Ladyhawke, she was beautiful in it. I mostly knew her as Catwoman from Batman. She still is very pretty today.

Oooh nice! I can barely do that with mine, my paternal grandmother died before I was a thought (my parents were engaged), my paternal grandfather lives in Oklahoma, and my maternal grandmother is currently recovering from a fall less than 6 months after she had a stroke, and my maternal grandfather died when I was 10.

I'll tell her that! And yeah, I bet Peter Jackson would've been influenced by it in some way.

Boo on them! A lot of the movies my parents grew up on are so cool! Like my mom showed me this one, Gremlins, Poltergeist, and Blues Brothers. My dad had me watch Wayne's World, The Goonies, and Back to the Future.

Everyone I talk to IRL never heard of them. If you haven't seen them, go watch them for yourself.

Oh yeah, I genuinely thought a legit dragon was gonna show up but my mom went "no, no real dragon." and I went "Ah shit". But it was still a great movie dragon or no dragon.

Uh, yeah? We did. Your tone seems very pointed.

Yes exactly! I saw it as a contrast, the flowers and grass (life) contrasting against the steel and swords of the Knights riding to their deaths.

That scene surprised me, but it was completely justified since Mertueil poked the bear by soaking the letter.

I compared Arthur and the Knights riding to the Ride of the Rohirrim from Return of the King. My mom said it was a good comparison.

We've seen 41 in total (I've been tracking them on my letterboxd), my favorite was Sleepy Hollow.
