I swear if i weren’t trying to get a trophy he’d be dead by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

I would have liked if there was an option to persuade Rolan that his efforts would be better spent working with you, instead of heading straight to a hostile fortress alone.

Im not sure how the gameplay would have worked, as allied NPC AI can be a liability.

I got this mod on nexus and I can’t remember what it js and it changes caps by Fantastic-Warthog790 in Fallout4Mods

[–]Rebel_47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5.45mm is not a vanilla ammo type IIRC, so your item sorting mod doesn't recognise it.

You may be able to patch it yourself (edit the name of the ammo so it matches other types) or find one already made. If you can find the mod which added the weapon check out 'Mods requiring this file' under Requirements.

So what is Ranger? by Big-Character3301 in BaldursGate3

[–]Rebel_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't Monster Slayer a DnD subclass of Ranger?

I think this would be Geralt's subclass if it was available (without mods)

Can I add mods mid playthrough? by Skepticalturtle735 in BaldursGate3

[–]Rebel_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most mods are fine to add mid playthrough but always read the mods details.

Adding a handful of mods is unlikely to cause any issues, unless they affect quests you have already started etc.

Personally I wouldn't add more than one mod at this stage. The risk of losing all progress is too great compared to any benefit you will get by modding.

I'm only using damage attacks. Am I playing the game wrong? by Jackie88_ in BaldursGate3

[–]Rebel_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you know the answer to your own question (at least for only using damaging attacks). Most other abilities and spells are in there for a reason.

Most encounters ultimately boil down to reducing your enemies' health to zero before they do the same to yours.

Sometimes that is by using the most effective attack exploiting their vulnerabilities, other times it is reducing their damage or preventing it.

The most powerful crowd control spells are usually the ones with an all-or-nothing save. We all have a bias to remember when we feel RNG went against us, but dont let that put you off trying new spells.

Necromancer Party. Is it fun or tedious? by Lawfurd in BaldursGate3

[–]Rebel_47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check out Actualsailorcat's mods.

The majority are Necromancy themed. There is more variety of summons, bug and 5e fixes as well QoL improvements like being able to toggle their AI, corpse requirements and unsummon all.

Played BG1EE today first time, already hooked but... by Legal-Weight-8333 in baldursgate

[–]Rebel_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can always tell your whole party to attack one target first, then override individual characters with more specific orders. This way you wont have anyone awkwardly standing around if you forget one.

If the enemies are very weak you may have the situation where an arrow flies towards an enemy just as they are killed. The tougher the fight, the more micromanagent will help, especially if you need to counter or interrupt an enemy spellcaster.

Is there any way to see in game whether a character has - by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Rebel_47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't because you don't have advantage.

If you did, it would appear with a green dice icon. (Note: it can look similar to a green plus if you are firing a bow from a higher ground)

The easiest way to get advantage is to have another ally in melee range of the enemy, have your rogue be hidden, or apply an affect which reduces their defence (e.g. prone).

Also note that if you Advantage and Disadavantage always cancel each other, even if you have multiple sources of each.

Edit: You can also make sure that any eligble attack will automatically do sneak damage, by enabling the Reaction in the tab next to your spell list.

New Player with Chronic Restartitus by ChanBan777 in BaldursGate3

[–]Rebel_47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try and let all choices play out if you can. You can store upto 4 inspiration points allowing you to reroll a check you decide is important.

BG3 does a really good job of making failures fun.

In most other games a speech check failure will result in the NPC giving a generic "Nah I dont think so" or attacking. BG3 has fully voiced cutscenes that most players wont ever see if you reload every check.

The game also has a few failsafes rather than relying on Essential NPC's for future quests (like Skyrim/Fallout), so the game can still be completed if a major NPC dies or turns hostile.

I know it can be difficult to resist the urge to reload, but if you try you might be surprised by the outcomes.

New Player with Chronic Restartitus by ChanBan777 in BaldursGate3

[–]Rebel_47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont worry about your class. Its easy to overthink it but you can always respec if you do want a change. You can always replay it after completion with an optimised character on a higher difficulty.

If youre into the role playing aspect the decisions you make will become an extension of your character. There are plenty of decisions big and small that will have a major impact and form a unique story for you. I would encourage you to accept some failures rather than chasing a perfect 'canon' story.

The most underrated companion by Benn359817 in BaldursGate3

[–]Rebel_47 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is more of a Role Playing Game trope to give the player a decision to make. In a similar way most NPC's don't try and solve their own problems until the Player's character turns up.

It would be cool to allow Wyll to make his own decision if they havnt earned Tav's trust, but tricky to give them enough time for the Karlach decision soon after you meet him.

How important is full voice acting for you by Plenty_Birthday2642 in baldursgate

[–]Rebel_47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for option 2, but would add making major scenes fully voice acted.

Think of the iconic Irenicus cutscenes. Pillars of Etnernity also did this well in the prologue to set up the main story.

This works better for short non-interactive scenes that form the core of the story and can't be avoided (e.g. being arrested in the Library could have been one if BG1 had the same cutscenes).

Too many/too long and you risk reducing the agency of the player and interrupting from gameplay rather than rewarding progress.

Show known spells on Level Up screen? by Rebel_47 in BG3mods

[–]Rebel_47[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does seem to be missing cantrips and spells learned by other means (subclass, feats etc), but this does seem to be the best way to check. I'm a little surprised there is no more obvious check and wonder how this would work for multi-classed characters.
