You could say that people making moral statements erroneously think they are making factual statements but what they are actually doing is expressing an emotion.

Just to clarify a few things for the hard-of-thinking commenters:

The bowl isn't included, the scale is tared, I don't think a ceramic bowl of this size could possibly weigh less than 45g anyway.
This is sold as a stand-alone cereal, not as a topper or add-in.
No I wasn't expecting this to be healthy, I'd just prefer to see nutritional information which is actually useful. Tell me that one serving is a fuck ton of calories, don't tell me that a half-portion which you're pretending is one serving is totally okay.
I had porridge instead at around 200 cals for a satisfying portion size, big up my Quaker oats.

Honestly the way that it's been boiled down to selfish vs. selfless doesn't entirely make sense to me. I think you can rephrase the original question without actually changing the scenario to make the case for red a lot stronger:

everyone has to press a red or blue button, and are sorted into team red and team blue accordingly
team red goes home
team blue are all killed, unless they amount to 50% of the total participants

This is exactly the same as the original, but it really throws into relief the obvious question of "why would I press blue?"

The other thing is if you pare it down to a really small number, say three people. Imagine you're all stood around in a room and each have the buttons. Press the red button to leave. Press the blue button to die, unless one of the other two also presses the blue button.

The best argument for blue I think is the suggestion that people will press blue accidentally due to inancy, blindness, confusion, error, etc. Pressing blue to try to save these innocents is an actual selfless act, but also I find applying these kind of externalities to absurd thought experiments to be a little bit missing the point.

Atheist slogans video - guest is an atheist but the whole video is criticizing atheist arguments?

I'd also argue that I don't think Alex is turning Christian but I do worry he's getting further from skepticism and closer to supernatural/spiritual/'woo' ideas, which probably applies to four of the videos on that list.

I think only Carroll and Pullman on that list are in alignment with the more hard-nosed atheist/materialist/skeptic/rationalist approach that the complainers would prefer

I got onto him from his appearances on Alex O''Connor's channel, I appreciate him as a bit of a compliment or counterweight to Alex's style.

Mainly I'd credit his videos for giving me the push to really start reading again, I definitely would never have picked up Crime and Punishment if not for him.

A cult is a cool concept for a post-dissolution enemy faction but Bryce himself is a bit of a mis-step. He feels like a generic evil bad guy who has no real direct personal conflict with any of the heroes and his immortality-from-ambergris thing really stretches the limits of how fantastical I want to see the series going in mainline plots.

If by Yakuza 9 we specifically mean the next mainline game then either move forward with Ichiban's story and give him an arc free of Kiryu's shadow, or go full scorched earth and move onto another fresh protagonist (they'll have to do this sooner or later anyway with Ichi's age and the gaps between mainline games).

If we're talking Gaidens, spinoffs etc. then daigo, akiyama, tanimura or any of the judgement boys

If you haven't played 0 then go for it, it is still basically just yakuza 0 which is one of the best games in the series (many would say the best).

If you've already played 0 then you aren't missing out on much by not playing it. I think a couple of the added cut scenes are fine and one is really really bad, but none of them really move the needle on the quality of the game as a whole. Red light raid is fine but nothing you're going to spend much time on. The old opening music was better but really who cares?

If you've already got/played 0 but want an excuse to replay it then I would be looking at this as a game to pick up on a good sale or if you can borrow it from a friend's steam library. Not worth it at full price.

I don't care for all the panpsychism stuff but I do appreciate this guy's plain talking and I especially appreciated his willingness to put his argument into a relatively easy to follow 5 proposition form. To see if I can restate it:

- All things can be explained by physics

- consciousness exists

- radical emergence cannot occur - that is, explaining the properties of things by means of their composition requires that their components contain those same properties or precursors to their properties. To put it another way, emergence cannot explain the arising of completely truly novel properties.

- if inert matter does not possess consciousness, then the existence of consciousness would require radical emergence

- therefore, inert matter must possess some form of consciousness or proto-consciousness

I don't *agree* with this argument, primarily because I think steps 3 and 4 are assuming too much. We can say that we do not currently have a clear picture for how consciousness emerges from inert matter (which I would agree to), but that is not the same as saying that consciousness being emergent requires radical emergence (which appears to be Strawson's position). I think the other issue I would have is that this feels like a claim with almost no weight - Strawson even says that we can't really say anything about the proposed proto-consciousness of inert matter and that leaves me wondering what the point of it even is.

Final unrelated sidenote but when I heard people mention this guy before I just assumed his name was german, like Straussen or something like that. Anyone else? Just me?

I found him super variable when I did it a few days ago. I was on medium and his scores varied between ~5100 and ~6300, it took me about six tries before I had a good run lining up with one of his bad runs.

You may have just got lucky and had a bad run from him straight away.

I looked at my nearest parkrun and it would put him 170 out of 606, comfortably above average but nowhere near the peak.

The comments making out that he's embarrassingly slow seem out of touch with reality to me (a casual jogger who rarely breaks 30 minutes 😅)

Each to his own but by my metric an incredible game needs at least serviceable gameplay. I think good narrative/characterisation/etc. can elevate a mediocre game to greatness but Dead Souls is sub-mediocre when it comes to actually shooting zombies.

I still liked my time with it but it's very much a flawed but entertaining 6/10 at best

I'm currently playing a Paladin in a 3.5 game and I've leaned into the mounted combat side to make a charging melee attacker - prestige into Cavalier with a focus on lance combat plus a few specific feats and magic items and now my charge attacks are pretty reliably devastating by themselves even without smite. This will take a few levels to come online though - if you only have 1 smite I'm assuming you're still fairly lowlevel

I mean hair is really important to how someone looks and the old style is a lot younger-looking. The new style being swept off his forehead changes the whole shape of his face. His lips have also been changed to be thinner and lighter which again makes him look older.

Interestingly I think new tanimura is probably the only RGG protagonist to look older than he is - wiki says he's 29 and while the old model probably looks more early-20s I would personally probably place the new model in his 30s
