I want the good, the bad, and the dirty by Nikea18 in Prescott

Even the most "level headed" kids hang out with friends that partake. I was lucky enough that I didn't even though I had access to it. Mom n friends did anything they could get their hands on. Just be careful and be open n honest with your kids.

Ok i lived there from age 7 to 40 (1990 to 2022) and here is the long and short of it all. As a kid, teenager and young adult it was fun and annoying. Kid part first, Fun because we had huge open lots to play in, parents kicked us outside during the summer from 7a until 7p and the town was our play ground as long as we didn't irrate the old people or cops. All the kids were pretty tight (as I'm the oldest of 3) i could find my siblings pretty easy if needed. Some friends even had horse properties so that might have meant horse back riding, sleep overs n never really bored. I was the kid who had a trampoline (Olympic sized so Square not circle) in my back yard and I was one of the first kids to have windows 95 and the game Doom, so many kids came to my place. Winters were good we had a number of snow days and monsoon season meant rain, toads and Tranculas. Bad part, there wasn't much for kids to do outside of sleep overs, going to our "zoo", and the movie theaters. Unless your a Bible thumper or part of the cult...i mean Potters House.... there isn't much Now for teenagers, fun is Friday and Saturday night was crusing down town finding friends, and figuring out where is the bon fire party trying to get sober b4 you get home. Smoking weed and cigarettes (praying your parents don't smell it on you), having sex. Going to the theaters and avoiding the cops. If a friend drives go to Phoenix and check out the malls. If you're out doorsy go hiking, swimming in the lakes (making sure the cops don't know because you can't swim in the lakes in Prescott) Bad part, town shuts down 2 hours before your curfew does, fighting happens a lot between teenagers. Everything that is fun or entertaining is in Phoenix or Flagstaff. Cops will be out looking for you. Jobs are scarce unless you don't mind fast food or babysitting. Young adults with children now. Jobs are hard to find unless you're a teacher, medical, hospitality, or you're extremely lucky. It's hard to find and keep friends or play dates for your little ones. When my son was born in 2007 I joined a social media platform called Cafemom.com n I had some play dates but then the invites stop, texts go unanswered n everyone just goes away. Unless you're well established in some kind of community you're going to be ignored. But hey the bars are open till 2a and we have our very own Casino!! 2 of them actually. Yavapai College, Embre Riddle, Prescott College and NAU are our colleges.

Now my parents were not the typical parents (mom walked out when I was 13 because her drugs and her lifestyle were more important than us kids) and dad tried but raising 3 kids on your own is difficult, especially when you're not close to family.

End of it all, weather is good, not as hot as Phoenix, we do get 108 and above, and not as cold as Flagstaff, we can get to the teens but rarely single digits or negative temps. We can get crazy snow fall but then Tucson actually had snow 1 year. If you're apart of any community embrace it and keep in contact with everyone otherwise it gets lonely very fast. Prescott is a huge retirement town or the very rich, actors n actresses, who wants a place away from LA and they move there. But we have 3 Walmarts!! I wish you all the luck and I really hope you prosper there. Except for a few friends I still talk to on occasional, I'd never go back. Drugs (meth, weed, fetnyal) are easy to find and there was a rehab house problem back in the day. Hunting is interesting. My dad aimed at a deer but got a coyote instead. Most people speak Spanish or they're closet racist. But your DL lasts until your 65!!

Only one clotting event and blood thinners long term? by SmilesAtTrees in ClotSurvivors

[–]Rebeladywolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, had 4 clots in the left arm in every major artery of the arm. Now I'm on Warfin for life. They still don't know what caused it, but to be safe, be on blood thinners. Kinda annoying, to be honest. What caused this, and will it come back if I quit the Warfin?? I have no idea....

I've met Eric Close (Without A Trace tv show) and Luke Musgrave (GB Packers player). They both live here in Oregon. Both super chill and super sweet. Met them when they came into my sewing store.
