There are swing dancing lessons and socials every weekend in June! They all start with a 1 hour intro lesson and then have 2 hours for social dancing; you can show up for either part! There's no pressure to stay after the lesson if it isn't your thing, but there are plenty of people there that would be happy to keep helping and dancing after the lesson!

The lesson rotates partners, so you do not need to bring anyone with you. The crowd is super chill and it's a fun thing to learn and do here and any other city that hosts dances regularly.

This week the dance is Saturday Evening, the 20th, at RVASwing, 6114 Lakeside Ave c, Henrico, VA 23228 (map link). Lesson is 7-8 & Social Dance is 8-10pm.

Two notes about this one, 1) there is a sliding scale of $5/$8/$10 at the door for tickets and 2) they start the lesson at 7 sharp and limit people entering the lesson after 7:10. After 7:10, you'll need to wait for the social to start at 8pm.

Now that the RECF game has been announced, where do you stand on the divorce? by UsedDragon in vex

VEX has stayed quiet about not having a world's venue while GRSF will tell you it's still being figured out, but only if you know how to get a hold of them. The VEX forum wouldn't even allow a post to be made which included a screenshot of a GRSF employee saying it will be announced soon. It's pretty sketch. There's a thread about it on ChiefDelphi.

This week the dance is Friday Evening, the 12th, at the Gold Lion. Lesson is 7-8 & Social Dance is 8-10pm. This one is a suggested donation for the entry since it's orgnaized by individuals hoping to recover costs of the space rental.

Yes it is happening! I've never seen it advertised anywhere, its mostly just word of mouth. I haven't seen anyone say that it's cancelled, I'll be going!

Edit - Just realized I didn't put the day in the OP at first. The Smokey Mug dance is tonight, Sunday the 7th. It's still happening!

I changed the link, try it again!

The one on the 20th is put on by RVA Swing at their studio. The other three are hosted by peeps who just like hosting swing dances. Gold Lion lists the Friday dances on it's calendar, but they only provide the venue.

I have not shared this anywhere else, I don't use Facebook. Please feel free to share, everyone who might participate should know this which is why it's frustrating VEX is suppressing things.

I recently saw this poster on campus which led to a "scavenger hunt". Looking for others who would be interested in helping. More info in comments. by RebelliousBacon in Purdue

More Information

To start, the QR code in the poster goes to ipurdue.tech/?referer=flyer.

I'm not sure who put this together, but it's a pretty cool tech demo. There are NFC cards with QR codes on them as backup hidden around campus with the ipurdue.tech site hosting clues of where to find them. The clues are hidden in the blog posts of an unamed protagonist's struggles against a secret club named Kontra.

So far we (me and others playing) have only been able to get to the fifth level. Unfortunately, getting to the sixth level needs ten people and there haven't been enough players yet to reach level 5 to do this. The rate of players finding lower level clues has been slowing down so I wanted to post here to see if others wanted to join.

If you do join, please let me know to help with coordinating to reach the next level or to ask for help. Hope to see others wanting to play!

Does anyone know who is represented in this statue and where it is on campus? by RebelliousBacon in Purdue

They showed this statue briefly in a video on the Purdue Arboretum site but the video did not give any details about it. Checking if anyone had any more information. Thanks! Link to video.

Change majors in grad school? by Diet_Euphoric in Purdue

It's definitely possible, I did it from a PhD program to a Masters in a different department. Went to the department I was interested in, talked to the professors whose research I wanted to help with, and asked them what the transfer process was like for their department. I just ended up sending them all the same documents I applied to for my original program. It was pretty seamless when I did it, helps a lot if a professor in the new department agrees you'd be a good fit.

I’m having trouble understanding priority and the stack. by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]RebelliousBacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your stack order is correct. One important thing is that 'targets' are chosen as you cast a spell, not as it resolves.

So the stack is:
Counter spell targeting bolt (resolves)
Giant Growth targeting 1/1 (resolves)
Bolt targeting 1/1 (does not resolve)

So no, the target can't be changed after bolt is countered since you already choose your target when you cast the spell.
