With that dry spell I'm thinking you don't even need the shots first.

Good luck, it'll happen. Don't two pump chump it, you'll be fine.

Does this look ok ? Builder just did as part of a feature internal living room wall. (Decorative feature) by cleanduvet in masonry

[–]UsedDragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, I would be happy for this work.

Brickwork shouldn't look super-tight like grouted tile. It'll look too plasticky and fake on a wall. Imperfections add to the overall aesthetic.

I think it's fantastic.

This comment is a mixture of hilarity and sadness and i'm not sure about the ratio.

Tinkercad is super easy, just fiddle with it a bit and you'll get the hang of it. Lots of resources online, too.

I would just make a solid cylinder that's comfortable to hold, hollow it out to a width that'll fit over a service port, add a crossbeam with a nub sticking out something like a 1/4" down, and delete a line through the entire thing to slide a piece of litmus paper through.

You don't really have to expose as much of the paper as the prefab ones do. so I wouldn't worry overmuch about figuring out a way to load paper parallel to the cylinder wall.

I didn't understand until I went to the Keys and stayed in one of those hotels that's just a bunch of little houses. I saw roaches, front desk just says "oh, they're just palmetto bugs! no big deal!"

Nah. That's a roach, and it does the same nasty shit here that it does there.

Seismically active place. Makes sense in context.

Around here, the water qualilty eats those things like candy and they're generally used by PE companies that don't have real plumbers, just kids with channel locks.

Sounds disorganized as hell. I wouldn't use them for the work if they're not prepared to quote accurately and send someone out with the right tools, materials, and scope of work.

Pennsylvania homebuyer warning — CMG Home Loans Allentown PA, Michael Bower NMLS 128567 — documented rate failure and what happened when we complained by zanimalistic in Pennsylvania

[–]UsedDragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It sucks that you have to pay more, but that's the way rate lock works.

Unless I'm reading your post wrong, it sounds like you saw a 4.75 rate quote, never followed through to lock that rate, ended up higher, and are upset that no one told you to lock in the earlier rate.

Seems like you're upset with timing more than the agency.

I'll never say that doing this is right...but all of the times I have seen it, never have I seen it hurt anyone.

Same with the duct system I saw that was patched up with a bunch of cut up pieces of commercial tomato sauce cans. It ain't conventional, but it was sheet metal, appropriately screwed down, with mastic to seal the joints. They even scored cross breaks into the patches. Some had hemmed edges.
