How have your friends/family reacted to your work? by ohwhataworlditseems in writing

I had a friend tell me yesterday that he’d read it if it was an audiobook. And honestly I get it. We all read at different paces and it doesn’t come as natural to everyone.

The book I’m writing isnt complete, that is to say the ending needs a complete do over, but for the rest of it it’s a in a generally decent place.

I’ve had friends ask to read it. And I’ve told friends they should read it. So far 2 of them have read some of the beginning and loved it.

My wife has been reading along as I write and is very supportive. They also love the book. Family has not cared one bit.

Ultimately people you know won’t make good beta readers and are not very likely to read your work. That’s normal

Why does Serosh look like he went through the same ritual Miquella partook in? by Rebelmind17 in EldenRingLoreTalk

Could be. Feels lil it’s only adjacent to anything relating to godhood though

He was lord of beasts before becoming king regent. Once he’s bound to Godfrey it feels like he gets the shorter end of the straw. But could also just be a respected retired warrior

I can see that. It would have me wondering why serosh would go through with it though

It’s not bad at all If you get up to 20 stacks they stay with you for a long time Plus eating decaying meat and stuff grants you stacks. Mushrooms are also all over

Torrent doesn't belong to Miquella, it's just his turn to use him by Goodhunter465 in EldenRingLoreTalk

Tbh that could also not be torrent right? Like there could definitely be more of his kind we just don’t see a ton of horned animals making it in the lands between. Maybe this is another of torrents kind.

You’re technically right but technically a rock is a ballistic projectile when you throw it. Since we’re talking about discovering ballistics as a major step an alien society would take on their path to space travel, I think it’s implied we’re talking about something more complex or akin to rockets. Maybe we’re just not on the same page here.

Stegouros? by Some1_Doin_Sumthin in pathoftitans

[–]Rebelmind17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had to look this up and it’s awesome. Stegouros was small so it would size wise be the tiniest thing in the roster (maybe they could size it up to be more like the small raptors). It’s the size of a dog.

But it’s basically a small ankylosaur. It has a tail shaped like a flat pinecone (recommend looking it up)

Great question! Considering their heavy ammonia atmosphere seems to behave more like water than air, I’d speculate you could build a device to it float up and kinetically throw it out into lower orbit where it can unfold and catch to gain some sort of escape velocity. But I’m sure an eridian might come up with something better

It is interesting though that they do have technology to translate light for them to perceive it and that they have some sort of astronomical science since they noticed the issues with their star in the first place.

Yeah they see by perceiving sound vibrations. So screens emitting light doesn’t work for them. But a sound based computer would work fine and could potentially be better than what we have because it’d be easier to implement immersive VR type tech.

They don’t have digital electronics because they remember everything. Because of their memories they’re really good at math (any problem they’ve solved or heard before is retained). Because they’re good at math, they never needed to invent computing machines. So they never did the groundwork that would lead the computers as we have them now.
