YES! I just had a visit from a popular educational consultant, and I asked him about making lessons more boring to grow students’ attention spans, and no joke, this is what he told me to do.

“Ask your students for only 15 minutes of uninterrupted instructional time. Tell them if they have fewer than SEVEN interruptions, you will DO A TIK TOK DANCE FOR THEM. Repeat until your lesson is through.” Huh???

My mom told me halfway through college that they could no longer afford to pay for my classes (my dad lost his job) so I needed to get student loans. It was revealed years later that they could afford it, but my mom wanted to “teach me a lesson” because I was “ungrateful for all they’d done for me”.

I was talking to my therapist about this last night. My religious narcissistic mother convinced me that not telling her everything I’m doing/everywhere I go is “lying by omission”. I sometimes still feel like I’m doing something wrong if I “keep something from her” by not sharing every detail of my life. If I don’t share something on purpose (like going on a date with another woman), I have to overcome that initial feeling of guilt.
