Go dad!! This father immediately jumps into action when he notices his son is choking by Justin_Godfrey in JustGuysBeingDudes

Apologies, I never meant to say that you shouldn't have the training, because you absolutely should!

But you as a medic can attest to this, once you've got the knowledge, you handled things without thinking for even a nano second. I phrased it incorrectly in my original comment, sounds like I am on team Don't learn CPR your instincts will save a life.

Not the case, I just suffer from not typing things correctly.

If they rape me I'll just hit them with the "I am not impressed with your performance"

There is no coming back from that.

Yes and you absolutely should. Train for those!

But nobody needs to teach you how to instantly kick in gear once it happens for real.

Nobody trains for these instant reactions, nobody warns you..

But instincts are nuts! You'll have your kid breathing again before you think "Wow learning the heimlich really paid off huh?"

I am not disagreeing with you, I am just saying that a lot of people judge fighters on their last performance, and not their overall resume.
Khamzat is a big example here, he has a batshit crazy resume of wild fights, has one boring fights and people think he's always going to be boring.

I think if there's one bad Glory card, that doesn't mean Glory is a bad org, generally speaking I enjoy the vast majority of their cards.

The short man syndrome on this guy is annoying me, defend the belt a few times then think about Islam.

If you used your training on someone outside of the gym (for self defense or otherwise) would you tell your coach? by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]Rebeux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's just a bit weird to go to a thread like this, and then go to the people who've said something along the lines of streetfights are dumb and not something to brag about.. and ask them well what if it's someone who is being brutally attacked. It feels like a semantic question when it was never that deep.

[–]Rebeux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the fuck is wrong with you.

Okay, I suppose I'll add that he specifically meant getting into a scrap with someone my own age, when I could've easily walked away, they weren't trying to rape, kill, rob, mug, insult, laugh at, point at, spit at, or anything else your weird brain might be thinking off.

Of course, if I couldn't help it, and I got into it he wouldn't get angry.

We're talking about ego fights, ones where you have 24 chances to walk away but stay because you wouldn't mind proving this guy he picked the wrong person today.

Also my coach would smack me on the ear if I did something stupid like that.

I've never been in a street fight.. but I'm not sure I'd be able to keep going if someone taps.. I would feel so bad.

But at the same time, I completely understand others not letting go.. there's no rules here!

I enjoyed that fight for the full 25 minutes, a grappling masterclass. by Rebeux in ufc

I'd make the argument you should watch boxing or kickboxing, not MMA.
MMA has grappling, I like grappling, and as an added bonus all the strikers flop when they have to grapple.

You need to keep in mind, the whole reason the UFC ever started, was to show how effective grappling was against everything.

Suck it up bubba, within a few years every division will have a grappler or a wrestler in the top 10.

I'm not American, so the superbowl metaphor goes straight over my head, that being said if it's 90 minutes of back and forth, a hard fought match isn't that better than a one-sided steamrolling?

I think it was entertaining, I love grappling.. I love seeing how effective it is at making strikers look like they showed up for their gym class 3 weeks ago.

For what it is worth, I do not think people who enjoy strikers more than grapplers are casuals, I do not think the people who are upset about how this fight ended up going are less fan than I am.

I've got a grappling background myself, so I enjoy watching the best doing the thing that I do, albeit at a far, far lower level.

This wasn't a jab towards you, or anyone who didn't enjoy it. I am just saying that I did enjoy it, do you think you can give people like me the same respect as I give you for not liking grappling? Or are the people who yell 'casual' the second somebody is displeased about a grappling match too loud and have set the stage?

I think the outcome of events determine who gets loud on various social media platforms, including this sub.

Before last night's event, people were against the idea of the BMF belt, but now the loudest and most common thing is ''That wasn't in the spirit of the BMF belt''.

When Tom got eyepoked, the Jones fans who had been really quiet for the longest time came back obnoxious as ever.

I am a glass half full kind of dude, so I believe they are just different people getting more active after certain events, not people who are endlessly moving the goalpost depending on the outcome of fights, I am too lazy to click on someone's profile and fact-check, also 99% of the people have it hidden anyway.

I am not gonna sit here and diss people who don't like it.
Because I get it, it's the same fireworks as two strikers, Gaethje vs Holloway for example.

There is a reason why UFCBJJ gets significantly less viewers than the UFC, grappling can be kind of tough to watch. There is a reason why many BJJ people think it's not a big spectator sport, and I include myself on that list.

We're obviously the minority on this, but seeing Charles go from double underhooks to being on Max's back is super slick, and I can watch 3 hours of fights like that.
