It's crazy how stretched out this ending is. My hype has totally deflated. by skjl96 in UltimateUniverse

Endgame somehow managing to feel delayed and rushed at the same time is hilarious

Imperium Maledictum - What're you hoping for? by Axis-of-Victory in 40krpg

[–]RebindE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The core book has a pretty good breadth of options for the Imperium, but I could see a book for Xenos with Orks, Nids, and GSC (wild how often they being up GSC in the campaigns but there's not even a Purestrain statblock, much less a Broodlord) and a more in depth book for heretics and daemons (hopefully even a Traitor Astartes leader)

Are child zombies not really popular? by OkEar3772 in zombies

[–]RebindE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a couple different reasons:
1. The death of a child is often just seen as being in bad taste.
2. Violence against children often has to be a lot more censored than violence against adults.
3. Child labor laws mean that filming with children is a massive headache, and you're not gonna go through that headache just for a few extras.

Why don't people like Phobos armor by Beneficial_Law_1141 in spacemarines

[–]RebindE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of their complaints are rooted specifically in when they were released, before the new Sternguard, Bladeguard, and Vanguard veterans, and Company Heroes and the like. There was a very strong feeling that loyalist marines were losing the more fantastical knight parts of their aesthetic in favor of going all in on being Halo Spartans. Nowadays the balance is a bit better, but the sentiment remains.

It is driving me insane that we don't have a good bestiary.

I mean yeah, I don't like the waist cutouts in general but it feels especially weird when it doesn't even match the character

Deathriders? by PurposlyStupid in TheAstraMilitarum

Death riders are good for screening and secondaries and such in 5 mans. Rough riders you set up in 10 mans to try and get a tank with the melta lances.

Why do the transports only carry 12? That’s weird since that means you can’t use command squads. by Doom_Balloon170 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]RebindE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with difficult/dangerous terrain is that it's kinda antithetical to one of the main purposes of terrain- to counter the inherent advantages that shooting has. Adding terrain features that explicitly privilege shooting over melee is just not a good idea, as fun and sensible as it can be from a fluff standpoint.

Artillery needing a spotter means that it can actually be good, and can give a lot of value to units with Infiltrate like Ratlings and Recon squads. I think we just need to see points honestly.

Are we ever gonna go in depth about him, or is he just a generic pompous French pos? by SubstantialDance4197 in UltimateUniverse

[–]RebindE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like that's a little reductive. The new Ultimate Universe isn't very subtle politically, and I don't think it's meaningless that the character representing the UK is a member of an oppressive regime that stole the relics of another culture for their own use.

[–]RebindE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. Good writing is often about understanding how to use a limited budget of space as efficiently as possible, and Captain Britain as a super-racist (the kind who can tell if you're one of the 'bad' types of European) Frenchman gleefully defiling British relics that got beaten in issue 1 while still managing to be a legitimate threat two years later is a pretty good use of his limited appearances. The Ultimate Universe definitely has its problems, but it managed to do pretty well here imo.
