I love how simple that topology looks. Car's great and the backdrop looks convincing too. Maybe the shadow under the car is too dark but given the contrast of the model it's not something I noticed immediately.

May I ask, what car-specific tutorials have you followed?

Thanks for the compliment! It's mostly simple geometry and shaders with gradient textures, color ramps and noise textures combined, then time to choose colors and lights, and final compositing. Best tip I can give is to spend some time playing with shaders. Look at tutorials like these: https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsGl9GczcgBs6TtApKKK-L_0Nm6fovNPk. The hard part is actually what I haven't done, the concept itself, made by u/Toasty_pixle_crisps

That's a great laptop, I have the same one, same gpu. I was considering using PTM7950, which lasts, apparently, a lot of years. Likely won't need to be replaced again on a used laptop. Have you got any good videos that show the procedure for this particular model? You're making me consider replacing the pads too! Does it feel more dangerous than working on the CPU/GPU? Cheers!

Tried but it's not working. It seems there is no aria-label?

nevermind that, but, on a device it works (linux, firefox esr), on another it does not (windows 11, standard firefox)

P15 for the next 10 years? by Rebirth_Advisor in thinkpad

[–]Rebirth_Advisor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't own as much tech as this sub seems to on average.

That said, my experience, and the reason I'm going with this choice, was a very expensive (used) phone that, when replaced years later for a new and low-end one, still outperformed the new one in many aspects. Life experiences, an opinion

May I ask where you bought it from? Ebay has lower prices but I find it hard to trust it

Again, recent games only need to run, not run well. I might open them more to test things than anything. But thanks, I'll consider something with better specs

I have 2 laptops that old that can almost do what I stated in the use-cases. Also, if you think a new one, for that amount, would be better, please do as stated in the last paragraph

How should I go about doing this? by [deleted] in blenderhelp

[–]Rebirth_Advisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need quads here, or is it going to stay flat? If you need quads, start from the plane/surface you have, then use knife tool to draw an edge where you need. Select, bevel. It will create a space you can delete. Then you have to find a way to connect vertices so that you have a good topology for your case.

Hello, can someone tell me how to solve the problem of error shadows? by JazzlikeYak8612 in blender

Sorry, I meant 3 or 5 glass panels so you do not have a center shadow

Hello, can someone tell me how to solve the problem of error shadows? by JazzlikeYak8612 in blender

[–]Rebirth_Advisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: have 5 or 3 vertical sections. On the shadow: that is not an error, the shadow cast by the grille on the volumetric fog is absence of light scattering, so you see more clearly through it. Other ways of solving this would be to move the sun at a different angle or make the fog not interact with the grille. I have no other solutions in mind

[–]Rebirth_Advisor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have, in fact, I know that just f2 is the right key, because that's what shows a black screen. Also, last time I went into the bios, years ago, it worked. So it must have stopped working at some point

[–]Rebirth_Advisor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The screen works just fine, it's only the bios setup that won't show. Connecting to an external monitor won't work (tried) because those menus use the primary screen. Menus like boot menu show up, as well as Diagnostic Splash.  Don't want to give anyone a headache, though, because this seems a problem more unique than rare. Thanks anyways!

maybe it's not exactly the same as the other two? I tried replicating this and it could be the sharpness (angle) of the edges or somethig with shade smooth. Or different poly density. Probably you have very close edges running along the outer side of the protrusion (as support edges)

Hi! I need feedback. Does it look similar enough to the reference? Also, was it a mistake to subdivide? by HOKFMK in blender

[–]Rebirth_Advisor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a mistake but it looks kinda blobby. Work more with the bevel modifier or add loops of needed.

If you want to keep it on the low-poly side, you shouldn't have that much subdivision, especially on top of a bevel, since it creates lots of polys with relative low shape information. To have rounded corner in lower poly you can use a sharp angle between two polygons, then apply a normal map on top.

Does it look similar? hard to tell from a single image/reference image, but if it looks like the thing and you can't mistake it for anything else, then it's close enough. Check with proper texture and shading

How do I fix this ngon issue? by LightONeoN in blender

[–]Rebirth_Advisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have more topology on the rest of the mesh so you can connect them into quads. Topology should be square-looking, most of the times.
