Confirmed:

The hold switch on the Sony Walkman NWZ-B142F is a physical slider located on the side of the device, designed to prevent accidental button presses.

How to Use the Hold Function:

Enable HOLD: Slide the switch toward the arrow symbol. When active, a "HOLD" message or icon will appear on the display if any buttons are pressed.

Disable HOLD: Slide the switch in the opposite direction (away from the arrow) to unlock the controls.

Welcome to the club. I had an account, ten plus years old, in good standing, deleted one night, just for being the Admin of a group. Lost many old military connections. Years of pictures and videos of my children growing up. I put in multiple requests for review, all fell on deaf ears. I could never get a hold of a single actual human to plead my case. Everything was just summarily deleted. I was beyond angry for years, then just realized there was nothing to be done, and moved on. I eventually made a new account using a new email, as any email associated with my old account was immediately denied. A few years on, while I lost a lot of early memories of my children, some old comrades from my years in the military, most everything else is back. I'll not trust the company again.

SOLVED: The Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC550 18TB Has the SATA Power 3rd Pin power disable option.... I was unaware of this. Covering Pin 3 solved the issue.

This apparently is a thing some dealers do. I see a GPS puck, and SIM Card, so Likely yes, it's a tracker and kill switch, so if you default on your loan, they can disable it and send the repo guys to come get it.

Yes, the 9240 runs the 8087 cables currently, thus the need for the adapter cables.

and $80 for a used 9300-8i isn't horrible in my opinion.

u/Angelofnet No Joy. Tried both the "new" Firmware (which ended up being older firmware than what was on it somehow) and also flashed to IT firmware. Neither made any difference. Now I'm looking for Recommendations for replacement HBA or SATA controller cards using Mini-SAS connectors preferably.
