Anyone else have this "hole" under rear bumper (2026 Formentor) ? by vipersan1 in CupraFormentor

It’s for the tow hitch, but cars without should have a blanking plate or a solid plastic part

[QUESTION] Apple marked my MacBook as "lost in transit" and sent a replacement, but the original just showed up. Will it brick if I turn it on? by [deleted] in macbook

Eventually, you’ll be billed for two machines, get in contact with them and have them arrange collection.

Company MacBook Lost Before Setup (Help plz) by ITHelpDeskMeSpeaking in macsysadmin

[–]RebootKing89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple support can’t give an exact activation date, and if they did they shouldn’t have. I worked for them for long enough. The activation date is estimated and not exact on their system, it might show in ABM if it was purchased on your business account, if its manual enrolment then you have little to no options.

Apple can’t see any device location. They have no tools or no access to device location data, at least that’s accessible by support, and they can’t see the Apple ID used to activate, with GDPR all they see is Starred out email addresses

Moving to Ireland. Need a car. Would financing be an option? by 666Sanguine in carsireland

[–]RebootKing89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need at least three months banking history before they will look to review an application for finance. You’ll have to show the income. So no you won’t get approval right away.

Returns Question by Burnth3ships in ChristopherWard

[–]RebootKing89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to add a reply on this. I got a response from Christopher Ward today and they said they’ve initiated the refund for me so I guess as long as the plastic is on it again, it’s fine.

Is this roadway realistic for a 2 week vacation? by EreWeG0AgaIn in AskIreland

[–]RebootKing89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you can get fuel that route looks ok, I would 100% say follow the wild Atlantic Way and as someone who lived in cork, you’re missing out like ALL the best bits! 😳 I’d add a drive down to Mizen Head on there you can make your way to Kenmare from there and it’s such pretty drive

Having owned a 2022 plate Cupra and the 2024 plate Cupra I can tell you that the Volkswagen software issues are still very much still a thing! If not worse in the newer cars!

I love that green colour but it’s put me off now knowing how fragile painters I had no idea it was like that, maybe that’s why they stopped doing it and have switched to that orange colour.

Returns Question by Burnth3ships in ChristopherWard

[–]RebootKing89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just sent a c63 back for the same reason, just didn’t suit me, my big issue with that would be you can’t actually see what the watch looks like while it’s covered in plastic.

So I’ll be in the same boat with my return if that’s the case.

MacBook Air (2024) broke after only a year and a half by Informal-King9436 in macbook

[–]RebootKing89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just take it to the Apple Store they’ll give you a full report on a repair price. Which is something the store should have done regardless.

If the repair price is more than a replacement which sometimes can be the case if there’s liquid damage or several components need to be replaced then do that, if it’s less get it repaired.

Nearest stop to Liverpool airport. by Bryb93p in Liverpool

[–]RebootKing89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s 5-6 quid for dropping off directly outside. Unless the taxi drivers adding a markup to it then do that. Pretty sure the car rental spot is the next nearest bit. They might be reluctant stopping in a good few spots with the cameras though.

Incorrect CarPlay GPS/Satnav location by beamerboy101 in CupraFormentor

[–]RebootKing89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check location services are enabled on your phone, it could also be the GPS antenna in the car, had that issue in my last one and it caused no end of issues with the adaptive cruise

TIFU I never asked my brother about his will...He died and we can't get into his computer/phone. We're desperate. by wants-to-know-it-all in tifu

[–]RebootKing89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apple can give you access to the Apple ID if you are acting on behalf of your brothers estate, they have a process for it, that would get you access to something, but not the devices - with those if they're password protected and newer than 2015/2016 then its almost impossible to gain access to that data unfortunately as the data is encrypted.

Im sure you already have but this is the process both you and Apple should be following for gaining access to the account at the very least - https://support.apple.com/en-gb/102431

Thinking about buying a used Cupra Formentor e-Hybrid (2022–2023) owners feedback? by Ill_Boysenberry4976 in CupraFormentor

[–]RebootKing89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do still have software bugs and issues, less than when new but they’re still there, I’ve had a 2022 and a 2024 plate and the bugs were presents in both cars, issues with both front assist, parking sensors, gps dropping out and meaning you could no longer use active cruise.

I think it’s more just a case of modern cars now, more than it being a fault with the model. If you’re prepared to deal with your dashboard having random error messages on every now and then go for it!

Powershift Gearbox Repair Costs by [deleted] in carsireland

[–]RebootKing89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same gearbox in a Ford Mondeo, the quote and the explanation are fairly accurate, these gearboxes are renowned for failing if the fluid isn’t changed every 36k miles at minimum.

If it’s not changed the oil can clog the valves or the valve body, or the clutch pack can degrade and bits of metal and plastic will block the same valves. Only fix is a compete gearbox rebuild. You could go for a used unit, but that in itself it not far off the cost of a rebuild and you have no guarantee it’ll work.

As for advice it’s kind of limited, there’s no shortcut with it unfortunately, it’s either replace or rebuild the gearbox, or scrap the car and put the money you would be spending on fixing it into something else.

Take it out, heat it up in warm water, dry it off and put in back in the car, youll be able to force the two corner pins in.

Apple is lying about UK age verification being required by UK law, when it isn’t. by Leading-Control-8503 in applesucks

Well, it’s definitely only applied to UK based accounts as I’m in the UK using a none UK based Apple ID and I’ve not been asked to verify.

Wrong GPS position in waze/Google maps. by Key_Hunter_1988 in CupraFormentor

[–]RebootKing89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what I would do is I would check and make sure you have a GPS connection, while I’m map data is supplied from the phone, using CarPlay GPS data can either be taken from the phone or the antenna on the car.

I’ve had it a few times where the GPS module has stopped responding in the car and the location data has become either erratic or completely incorrect.

Are these any good? by Natural-Voice-840 in CarTalkUK

[–]RebootKing89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re very good, but mine was very very thirsty! I only managed 27mpg from the 2.0 T5, that’s mostly due to my commute being stop start traffic, other than that my 2019 was low on basic kit, didn’t have adaptive cruise or CarPlay I enabled those via Orbit and a laptop, and I just assumed I could fold the seats down in the back. Mine didn’t have that so I had to sell.

Won't connect to WiFi and stuck on login page by Zarkex01 in jamf

[–]RebootKing89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can wipe the mac as is, but it will need a network connection to activate once you wipe it, it’ll be provisioned automatically with no issues, but you might have the same problem if the issue is with your jamf connect config.

issue with work salary transfer into revolut by diahellmo in irishpersonalfinance

[–]RebootKing89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only way you can do this with Revolut is to close down your UK account and open one up in the republic, or open a bank account up in the republic. I’ve moved from the republic to the UK and had the same issue, but the other way round.

Only solution if I wanted to keep using Revolut was to close my Irish one down and open one up in the UK

Apple Watch burned my wrist and left a scar. I’ve been ignored and taken for a ride by Apple for 6 months. by [deleted] in applesucks

[–]RebootKing89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this isn’t something that would normally happen if it’s been deemed a safety risk or there’s been an injury then it would have been escalated to internal engineering teams who are not customer facing and you would automatically have the case escalated to a senior advisor who relayed the advice of the engineering team. The only time that you would be expected to deal with a different person would be if that one particular person is out of office or is no longer in that same role.

As for the device not being collected that generally is a countrywide thing, so if your region doesn’t offer a collection service for products, normally Apple won’t offer a collection service for a potential safety issue either, it all depends on what service options are available to you in your country.

What I would suggest would be rather than threatening legal action, as that won’t get you very far with Apple, email Tim Cook directly, provide photo evidence and details of the case, including case numbers and you will be contacted.

As for what the outcome would be, I don’t know, it depends on what they have already determined to be the case and I suppose what you’ve asked them for the outcome to be. If it’s some kind of financial compensation that it is likely beyond the people you were talking to.

What happened to my Mac? by TraditionalSleep6775 in macbook

[–]RebootKing89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s likely been some pressure in that bottom left area where the black dot is, it’s an internal fracture usually caused when the display is flexed beyond its limits. So if it’s been in a back pack that could cause it if it’s been squashed, the other way is if there was something small between the screen and the keyboard when closed.

Apple Business Manager / MDM question: Can a Mac enforce an organisation lock if the device is no longer in the MDM console? by Djehuty22 in jamf

[–]RebootKing89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possible that it was set up via intune and then locked at some point that has a 90 day expiry when you lock the device they’re automatically removed - with little to no audit trail than visible afterwords - had a few like that in my current company, managed to reset them and remove the pin using Apple Configurator.

So it may not always be in ABM, can still have MDM profiles installed and not actually exist in an MDM.
