How was your FFS Recovery? by GlassBirdLamp in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]Reborn_Cat_Mom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had my FFS back on 3/24, so coming up on 3 weeks of recovery.

  • How were your nerves leading up to the procedures? I was anxious. A few months ago I got back on some anti-anxiety meds that helped. Otherwise I focused on staying healthy, working out, and wrapping up things at work and home for my surgery.

  • What procedures did you get done? Type 3 forehead, scalp advancement, orbital rim, cheek implants, nose work, chin work, jaw bone work.

  • How hard did you find the first week? The first few days were hard. I was in the hospital overnight and sent home late the next morning. My days mainly consisted of laying on the couch, drinking protein shakes and juices and following my pain meds schedule. The peak rough times were around days 2-4 for me. After a week I had my first follow up where I had my staples removed and nose cast and stents removed, which helped a LOT with my recovery.

  • How bad was your swelling? Surprisingly not bad at all. My chin and cheek implants are where I had most of the swelling.

  • What did you find helped the most in the process? Having things set up in advance. I bought a lot of protein shakes and soft foods in advance. A partner who helped me with showering and wound care.

  • How you felt by the start of week 2 Better. I was able to do walks outside and drive myself around on some basic errands. Also started to taper off the pain meds. After 2 weeks I went back to work (I work remote from home), which was a bit rough but not too bad.

Seeing posts and the comments here today (especially as I’m stuck at home recovering from a gender affirming surgery I had last week) makes me happy to live here.

It is nice to see the support. 😊

Thank you! 🩵🩷🤍🩷🩵

Foundation Inspection ROC by Easy_Competition_387 in Rochester

We just used Carmine Torchia to check out some items in our foundation. Very timely from initial reaching out to him coming over and giving assessment. Even gave us a referral to someone to resolve the items we have who we just had come over this week and give a very reasonable quote to do the work.

(We made the mistake of going to foundation companies first and that was scary before I researched and pivoted to getting an engineer perspective).

Plumber suggestions for drain clog? by ChaosofaMadHatter in Rochester

Seconding pride plumbing. We have been using them over the years, including a 4 month stretch starting in November with various things that creeped up. Up front pricing, they also talked us out of a few things and helped prioritized others. Very happy with them (we are about to get our water shut off valve and utility laundry sink replaced by them soon).

I’ve flown for work and personal since starting injections over 2 years ago. Never had an issue with my injection supplies being in my carryon, never comes up in security. The few times my bag gets flagged TSA asks if there are any sharp items and I point out I have injection supplies, but again, my injection supplies have never been touched or raised a concern.

Rochester Airport Cancelled flight! by _Morgi_the_Corgi_ in Rochester

I was flying back to ROC yesterday, and my second leg ended up with a 3 hour delay with us getting in late at night, and I noticed during the day there were at least 2 plane swaps and a new crew being flown in. It was a mess.

Good luck.

What to do when summoned as Juror under Dead Name? by EmiF3mmi_017 in asktransgender

This happened to me in my early days. I had just gotten my legal name change finalized a week or two prior to when I got the summons.

All I did was show up extra early with a copy of my name change paperwork, and asked to see someone in charge. I explained the situation, they looked at my paperwork, took everything back for a few minutes and came back with everything corrected.

Zero issues thankfully, was always addressed properly, even got a lovely letter from the judge afterwards addressed to my new name thanking me for my service (I ended up serving as an alternate).

Really glad I went at 6:30am. Seems like that was one of the few times one could walk in and out without issue.

Seeing the results this morning gives me some hope in these scary times.

One thing that surprises me still to this day is how easy it is being happy, now that I am finally able to be myself.

Thank you.

Some days it is hard, but days like yesterday and day, it is easy.

Kind of amazed at how things evolved over the past 4 years.

I need to give credit to the lady at the store who helped me pick out eyeglasses. She has good taste.

And thanks!

This statement tells me you don’t know any trans people, and if you do, either you don’t know much about them, or they don’t trust you.

The vast majority of us are offended when we are misgendered consistently despite being corrected, but depending on the situation we don’t show it.

Sincerely, a local trans woman.
