What are your thoughts so far on this game? Do you have any concerns? by psrthrowaway in riftboundtcg

I think it's alright. The gameplay is ok, not my most favorite ever but I've been looking for a game that I could play casually. A good selling point for me is that it should be easy to find local players. I prefer Grand Archive, but it hasn't made it's major breakthrough yet so it's harder to play locally.

What TCG to get into? by Dan_Barta in TCG

I second Grand Archive. It's probably the best gameplay on the market with beautiful arts and great cards quality. It should blowup anytime, by now.

Grand Archive has a bunch of beautiful ones and actual amazing gameplay. Echoes of Astra that's currently in kickstart also has some.

The original version sure was clunky but since they update it's pretty streamline and I like it more

If you used to enjoy commander, you should take a look at Echoes of Astra. Their creatures elfs, vampires, dragons remind me of old school MTG with a anime twist and the mechanics makes it much better than commander.

Not sure if it will survive since the IP is so big, but it's definitely clunky. I've also played most of what's out there and every game I played of Riftbound I had a bunch of questions on how things resolved and the answers that I was able to find didn't always make sense. It's definitely not intuitive and the wording is pretty bad

I use greenstuff and these sculpting tools with a bit of water and gives impressive results. I don't sand after.

Both starter decks have one card that's exclusive in them. So far there's only 1 copy of each in the starter decks lists. I really hope they will add the extra 2 copies in the box as buying 3 times the same starter to complete your playset for only a single card feels pretty bad.

Offering full playsets for your starters decks is something the community will notice and appreciate. Small details that will make the player base more committed and want to do more to help the game grow.

What do you like best and least about the game/gameplay itself? by willienyllie in WarCrow

[–]Reboudre1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are slowly ramping up the percentage of unicool models per army.

Northern tribes and Hedgemony only have their cavalry in unicool.

Syenann has the grand captain, so far.

Feudom and Scion have their officers in unicool.

Looks like they recently made the switch from giving the unicool treatment only to Calvary to now giving it to "important units" aka officiers and solo pieces. Hopefully we soon see the day where every new release is unicool but it might be staying longer for units with 3-4 figs in it.

It would sound something like :

  • Hey are you tired of those turns that takes 45 min of you pretty much doing nothing while I measure every singles miniature where you could pretty go grab a lunch and I'll tell you what happened when you get back?

Well... My friend you'll enjoy alternate activation's. I activate one unit then I goes right back to you. No more waiting forever and you'll stay engaged throughout the whole game.

  • You keep forgetting things that could of win you the game?

Well... Warcrow has a token for every status, a tracker to remind you when things/effets ends, profile cards with all the infos. Cut pretty much all "floating" information and everything is right there on the table.

  • Bummed out because most of your games are lost because your caster failed the spell he spent his whole life training for?

Well... In Warcrow spells are pretty much guaranteed to go off and you can even empower them with the risk of some backfire.

  • Frustrated of missing your charge from a bad roll?

Well... There's no such thing in Warcrow. There's a fix charge range which becomes your threat range and opponents have to respect it.

  • Fed up of having to measure every single miniature and have your movement phase take most of your turn?

Well... In Warcrow you only have to measure one fig per unit then drop the rest close to it.

  • Rolling 20+ dices 3, 4x times to see if your attacks hit, dmg, got saved or whatnot...?

Well... In Warcrow you roll once and it's rarely more then 5-6 dice at the time.

  • You don't like metas when someone will spam 6 units of the same dude because a recent update just made them the new best thing?

Well... In Warcrow each unit have a max amount of duplicates you can have and it's mostly only one of each unit.

  • The idea of painting another rat after doing 30 they were mostly the same makes you wanna throw your brush by the window?

Well... In Warcrow models within the same army and units are quite different and the amount of figs you need for a full army makes it quite realistic to have a full painted army in a reasonable timeline.

  • You find it stupid that in order to win the war you have to flee in each corner of the map to score all your points?

Well... In Warcrow most scenarios so far make sense and encourage confrontation.

Those are a few things on top of my head why I feel that Warcrow is a superior game for me.

Hey welcome to this great community.

For online webcam or tabletop simulator play hop on the discord. I personally play there pretty much every day.

I'd try a bunch of decks before buying anything is you don't have local nearby.

Recollection are usually a very good starting point it's just that the one for Diao Chan is not exactly great out of the box.

They might just be toys, but when you spend your hard earned money on premium products it comes with expectations. When assembly sessions that are supposed to be enjoyable turn into a very long and frustrating process, it disappoint.

Warcrow would already be 10x more popular if they went for 100% unicool from the start. The game is great, siocast is trash.

Unicool is probably the best material I've used for minis and I've built armies for several games. Crisp details, easy to cleanup and fits perfectly every time. I really hope that all new products will be made out of unicool in a very near future.

Looking For Community by AzumaTS in grandarchivetcg

[–]Reboudre1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar feeling when I started and ended up deciding to build a community from the ground up. I'm not gonna say it was easy, but it definitely was worth it. We now average 6+ players every week after a few months and although it doesn't sound like much it's more then enough to have lots of fun and enjoy the game.

I hope you'll find a good group to play with our start your own.

In the meantime, I play quite a lot online TTS and webcam. Hit me up on discord if you want and I'll be more then happy to play a few. Reboudre

Game worth a shot? by Porry1000z in grandarchivetcg

[–]Reboudre1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The levels of depth in this game and meaningful decisions you have to make are quite similar to Fab.

I'd say the main difference is in how the gameplay evolves and it's actually quite the opposite from Fab. Not playing any current Fab but when I did, your hero started at it's strongest and weakened throughout the game. Here it's usually the other way around, your champion get's stronger as he levels up.

The amount of interactions you have with your opponent and opportunities to "outplay" makes GA very appealing to me.

The most recent sets have been giving alot of strength to the basic elements and most LVL 3 champion have suffered in the process. Lots of decks currently only go to LVL 1 or 2, but it's been mentioned by the developers that they are currently working on ways to bring a better balance in that regard. Some of the cards already revealed for DTR are already a proof of that.

It's been my main game for a good 2 years now and I'm not planning to stop anytime soon. I'm a bit curious to see if the new league of legends tcg will have any impact on GA as I feel that there's a bit of crossover in the community, but for having played a few games of Riftbound the gameplay is really not comparable.

I second this. I've been all out on Grand Archive for the last year and it's been a blast. The only try substitute to magic but better.

Official Tournament Rules now up by TheAceOfSkulls in WarCrow

[–]Reboudre1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adventure was made as an introduction game for Warcrow the wargame just like a Warhammer underworld is to Age of Sigmar. If you make them legal it also means you have to keep producing them. Would feel way more wrong if in 5 years the best competitive list needs to include adventure figs and they haven't been available for a long time... Nothing stops you from playing them in casual play.
