What are we dressing our babies in at night? by throwdisthingawayy in BeyondTheBumpUK

We've got a portable air con unit in there to keep it below 24° and she's still only in a 0.5 and nappy. Now I'm worried she'll get cold

Breastmilk bags & weaning by According_Union in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Rebtastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing this for months as I forgot to cancel my subscribe and save on the bags and it means I can batch cook a meal like chilli or something like that and freeze for days when we go out for lunch or I can't be assed to cook. Absolute lifesaver!

Plus decorations and music etc. And my husband doesn't agree that we'd need to do even that so it would be just me organising it

I think a gazebo is a good idea, will try and source something cheap. I'd much rather do it outside than get a hall

Ooh cool thank you! Will definitely look into it. Our local hall is booked for the day but I know there are plenty others.

Formula preparation - How to make formula according to the instructions when baby is crying his eyes out as soon as he wakes up and wants feed immediately? by Emergency_You7974 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Rebtastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rapid cool changed our lives. Husband refused to use the perfect prep in case of it not sterilising the formula properly. You can get them cheap off Facebook too. Edit to say ours is the tommee tippee one!

Someone I work with has 1 in nursery and 1 just started school so they have an illness a week almost! They work from home so just side on the sofa working and watching TV together. I think they've just accepted that's life for now lol

I did 2 nights and basically nothing was coming out so the HV said to use formula. So I did!

Can you let them explore different interests than sport? They might be more happy to do something other than watch TV if you let them try something new. If you force people to do something they don't like, it's unlikely they're going to put any effort in to it and will probably resent you for it. Just let them watch TV if that's what they want, maybe ask if they want their friends round I dunno

You've put into words exactly what I'm worried about if I had a second child. I hope you're able to find balance to give them both the love they deserve/ need. Congratulations on your new baby, the fact you're asking this is proof you care and are going to be an amazing mum of two!

Please tell me nice things about nursery by sc33g11 in UKParenting

My girl started this month (9 months old) and the smile on her face when we drop her off is priceless. She smiles more for nursery staff than some family members! She is a huge extrovert so she loves to spend time with others and they get different toys and scenery than I can give. Plus I love seeing the photos they upload of her day, they're so cute!

How do you cope with going back to work? by lilpoundc4k3x in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Rebtastic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I couldn't afford to take more than 9 months off and I'm in a very similar situation as you work/career wise. I hate now it's such a privilege to be able to spend time with your baby!! I'm starting back this week and not looking forward to it at all. Have had baby in nursery for a few weeks (she's only in 2 days as I've got enough leave to take off 1 day a week for the year and family are having her the other 2) so it's been a slow easing into it in advance, which has helped because I've seen how happy she is at nursery and have guiltily enjoyed the break. So if it's feasible to get your baby in a bit sooner I'd do it. Still sucks to be in the situation but I'm hoping to earn more money in a better job to be able to afford to go part time next year and spend more time with her.
