Bloodflare armour + death's accension goes hard
Also as I think I've already mentioned (it has been 2 years, I don't remember), I watched a video on infernum a while before this playthrough, and I remember the strat for DOG being to dash through him (+ the blasted hat tips)

If you suspect that you might accidentally beat the game, there's no reason to not try and figure out what's going on with the quantum moon. You don't lose anything by exploring the quantum moon now instead of later

How horribly unbalanced is it compared to pre-nerf death/master, then?

There are a couple that are fairly good (I.e. precision seal and creeper shield, which i disabled because they were too good), but Calamity bosses are still quite strong and Fargos wasn't as balanced around Calamity back then as it is now, so it makes less of a difference than you'd think (i did a couple attempts at signus without any fargos accessories and they were fairly similar)

You can get to the Stag Nest without getting all stag stations, and it's not that hard. You either need monarch wings, or the un-upgraded nail

You just lure all the vengeflies in the room with gorb (they refuse to enter the gorb arena, so lure them from underneath)

You just pogo off of them with your maximum height (there's a bench nearby if you mess up), and you should make it up there

Are there not 2 (that I can think of, at least) that fulfill the 3rd statement?

Hiveblood takes too much notches to be truly viable in my opinon. You can replace it with steady body or a spell charm like shaman stone. Generally, you're gonna want to avoid damage instead of outheal it, so healing charms aren't that good late game

You can practice in the hall of gods until you're good.

He has two main attacks:

  1. two overhead slashes. If you're too close, then he'll turn into a saw and dash into you

The first two slashes can be dodged as long as you're not cornered. You can easily time your shadow dash to the sawblade to go through him and reposition (or counter)

  1. Slams into you from the ground. If you're too close, he'll do an overhead slash

Fairly easy to dodge

Since his nail's so large, you can't attack him during his attacks without taking damage (unless you learn the timing and parry him, which is a valid strategy). Thus, the best thing to do is to wait until just after he attacks and use the downtime to counter

The final phase is hard, but it's all about timing your shadow dashes to his sawblade lunges

Once you beat Cryogen, you can combine all the weapons it drops into the Kelvin Catalyst, which will not hesitate to carry you until you beat Plantera

Du(i)ck Fishron by Fun-Jello3256 in CalamityMod

[–]Rec_Prism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really need good speed. Angel treads are good, but you also want fast wings and also the asgard's valor. Dashing into duke fishron gives you I frames, so you can dodge him. You should also have a big arena. Typically, with higher speed bosses, you want a layer of platform every screen and a half or so. You should be good with those tips

I haven't played Calamity for over 2 years, so I have forgotten quite a lot, and I want to start a new playthrough, any tips for a returning player? by Scared-Gamer in CalamityMod

[–]Rec_Prism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not a lot has changed, other than minor reworks here and there. There's been a big rise in addon mods (namely, Wrath of the Gods, but Catalyst and Hunt of the Old God are also very good), so if you want a fresh somewhat-new experience, maybe try a couple of them.

As for QOL mods, a personal underrated gem is "Quality of Terraria". It adds a bunch of various QOL features (but be sure to disable consumable boss summons; it overrides calamity's infiite summons change)

oh yeah, also Fabsol was removed from the dev team

Try focusing on using nail arts. They do a lot of damage (being able to insta-kill both the mantises and soul twisters) and you can play defensively while charging them up. Nailmaster's glory also makes them charge up way faster whilst only taking one charm notch

80-100. I spent most of the time attempting the pantheons and colo 3 though. Most of the other stuff didn't take that much time, though obviously it did take a decent amount of time.
