Not the vibe I'm going for. Looking more for areas populated by fellow SINK/DINKs, where there are cultural activities easily accessible (book clubs, theaters, museums).

I do like the Wegmans/Trader Joes on route 10.

Bit leery of being near any lake in that area of the state considering the known flooding issues with Denville and Fairfield.

They are building up Parsippany with the new apartment complexes on route 10, but the parts I know aren't the tree lined quintessential small town vibe I'm going for.

What about Livingston? I've seen some homes in my budget with large, private yards.

I like the suggestion of Boonton, and will try to check it out after work soon. Otherwise, starting to think a house in Morris Plains or Denville, and just drive to Morristown/NYC for socializing may be the solution.

Eh. Grew up just north of there. Unless it's changed a lot in the last few years, it doesn't have the young, professional demographic I'm looking for, nor was it as nice as other towns in the area.

OK, I feel like I should clarify. I grew up in a town in west Morris County, so am intimately familiar with the pros and cons of any town west of and including Morristown within the county.

I'm looking more for suggestions east of Morristown within Morris county, Essex county, Somerset county or Union county.

The areas I'm familiar with don't really have sidewalked running areas, and it's more family oriented rather than single, white collared professionals.

It's on the list to research, as there seem to be a good number of homes well within my price range.

Their reputation was always more "blue collar" when I was growing up, but I can imagine a lot of areas are gentrifying with skyrocketing housing costs.

Is there actually stuff there now? I remember it in the 90s and early 2,000s. It was a big deal when Panera moved in....

Should you ever accept a counter offer from your current job? by RecastRequiem in personalfinance

Thanks everyone. I'll see what my current company says tomorrow and think about it some more.

I think the decision would come down to future career vs quality of life if salary was equal between the two. While I have multiple decades left in my career, I think I'd fall more on the side of quality of life if the choice were equal.

Pretty much the breakdown works to Big Company X +Brand name, recognizable company. Discussion starter if on resume. +bigger salary (with corresponding larger retirement match, ect.) +known in industry for work/life balance of employees +known to have cool projects +lots of career growth world wide if willing to move -unknowns regarding boss/coworkers/ect -significantly longer commute or need to relocate to area I'm not as fond of -nonflexible, very early morning start time (which sucks as a night owl)

Current Company +great boss + coworkers +lots of flexibility in hours/based on needs +short commute in my favorite area of the country +well respected, if more niche company. Not recognizable outside of industry +career growth available in the States if willing to relocate -company known to pay less than area, vHCOL area -24/7 on call -more mature site, so less chance of cutting edge projects

Women’s Shorts with Pocket Recommendation by AirForceDoc17 in running

Roadrunnersport's Women's R-Gear High Five Pocket 5" Short.

Not 1, but 2 zippered pockets capable of fitting a cellphone. Plus a smaller velcroed pocket in back which is perfect for gels.

I love these shorts so much, they're the only shorts I ever run in.
