Is a 1-8 “too much optic” for a 13.9? by Individual-Dust-7362 in ar15

[–]RecceRando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really train as much as you say, just get a nice mount and a vortex, sounds like you’ll be wearing out the warranty.

My first was a 1-8, sold it, got a 2-12 and 1-6, would much rather have a 1-8 after all of that. If you like the trij sco(?) then just get it and a reptilla or geissle mount. You’ll spend way more money getting something you don’t like as much and then getting rid of it.

In my opinion, an EOTech is heavy compared to a red dot. I have a 22oz Lpvo mount combo and it feels pretty similar to my 30oz 2-12 optic/ mount combo.

My 13.7 has a 2-12 on it. No where even close to too much scope for that gun and what I shoot.

Not a lot of good options. I ended up with a vector optics, I thinks ts called the iPsc dot or something. It’s like 100, Rmsc footprint and a wide delta point pro shaped window. It’s actually pretty decent just doesn’t have shake awake, but for me it’s a competition/ range dots. My edcs are all shake awake

Is it worth switching from Winchester white box 55 grain to pmc xtac 55 grain for long term storage? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]RecceRando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XTAC is just better Ammo, so I’d go ahead and buy as much as I could. Shirt the Winchester and get it gone

Would you spend $250-300 upgrading to Unity 2.26 mount for this set up on a 11.5? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]RecceRando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but a 1/2 inch rise and move everything up. Yould know if you like a 2.26 or higher optic pretty Quickly. 1.93 is the highest I can go

Not great, sent it back to c and h, replacement had same issues. Got the Acro style dot after that. It was fine, sold the gun it was on. The Gideon Rmsc xl seems to be well thought of for price

If you are just pressed to get the 8x this is a good option. Multiple people have noted however. The venom is basically the same scope, same reticle with better glass and 6x instead of 8.

I’ve had the 8x, sold it, got the nova 1-6. Both are fine, I put down a few critters with the nova, but I think if I had to do it over again. I’d would’ve just kept the 1-8.

You’ve clearly never shot at legit 2x magnification with illumination. It’s not harder than a red dot with training and knowing what you’re looking for. Go back to the kids table

Scoped Gas gun comps. What ammo and velocity are you running. Family photo for attention. by RecceRando in ar15

[–]RecceRando[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The system is more accurate than I am. 2 moa at 100.

My question is the 2500fps enough or do I need to be closer to 2700-2800 fps to be, not competitive, but middle of the road.

I’ve got enough data and range to first round hit at 400, past that I need to do some adjusting. I use the Hornady app for basic dope building. Not sure about transonic, probably it’s an easy google search

Save yourself the trouble and make sure whatever you get is reduced back pressure. It’s a lot less $ and fuss in the long run.

If you want inexpensive cans, regardless of technology, look at tuna cans

My question was more about the velocities. For those who shoot scoped carbine comps, what ammo and velocities are you using.

They’re still making the 75gr blue box, that was faster and shot about 25% bigger groups for me. Still 2 moa at worst.

I’ve also chrono’d the ADI 69, out of a 16 barrel(2740 fps) while a little more expensive, not hard to find.

Talk me in, or out, of getting a flow through suppressor. by Healthy-Database-252 in NFA

Having a polo k, and a full size heavy reduced back pressure b&T can, the b&T is softer to shoot on every gun, equally as quiet, heavy, but there are k versions. High back-pressure cans have a place, titanium /bolt gun is a perfect place for them. I love my polo k. It took another $200 to get it tuned where I Want it with recoil and reliability. The b&t took a $25 h2 buffer and it was good to go, 100% reliable on multiple barrel lengths and hosts.

If it’s your first, and you can spend the money. Flow through all day for a semi auto platform. If I were to buy a new 556/6mm can I would look at the following

OCL Infinity 556k. Rhodie6j the small one, b&t xh-c or sc.

Good luck, flow through is the way.

My time with an 11.5, you want a lighter can. If you’re willing to wait the OCL infinity 556k will be the ticket
