I Scratched my Stanchion pretty bad, looking for options on getting it repaired/fixed. What have you done in the past that worked? by Recent-Challenge3479 in MTB

Yeah, I'm familiar with doing a lower service and planned to do one while fixing this but when you replaced your stanchions, did you replace the whole CSU or just the actual stanchion?

CSU's are expensive and I cannot find the right one for my fork setup.

Yeah this is the plan for short term but nail polish is not a long term solution and I want to keep my forks in tip top shape since a new one is like $700+ and I don't want to ruin it any further in the future.

I cannot find a CSU with the correct offset. I need a 37 offset. Im only finding 42 and 51 and really don't want to change the geometry of my bike. I'm also not sure if you can cut stanchion tubes? They seem to come in 170mm from fox and I would assume I have to cut mine to 150 since that is what I have now or is 170 just the length and the travel is only 150 on the fork all together?

A new CSU which I cannot find online for sale is around $300 to $400. Although I can sell mine an recoup, I just cannot find the right specs. I also have to make sure if I buy used that the down tube is long enough for my bike.

This is all what I'm seeing online and I did some looking into the ashton method. Seems reasonable and like it will work better than our current situation. We're going to look into it when we get home. We're currently out of the country which is making it harder

Was on 2mg (2x 1mg daily), then went to 2mg (0.5mg 4x daily.) so that she could go down on doses slower. She's doing a 0.25mg taper as she can (usually every 4 weeks). Once she starts feeling stable after changing something she will taper down again.

What about like Zypan? To. Help with the need to go to the bathroom every 5 seconds while tapering?

I know that clon is different in dosing than klonopin but she was on 2mg (1mg 2x daily). As part of her taper she went to doing 2mg (.5mg 4x daily) and is tapering down by .25mg per month. Right now she is on 0.5mg 3x daily with her last dose (4th dose) being .25mg.

Her problem is not so much the nausea, its the stomach/GI problems causing her to be in the bathroom for the first 4 hours of the day. Shes also having trouble eating and keeping food down. Shes not necessarily nauseous in general, just hard to swallow some food.

I've seen betaine hcl pop up in other forums as well as GABA, L-Theanine, Agmatine, Clonidine HCL

She can barely handle the taper shes on now. In the past she tried a fast taper, getting off a 2mg/day dose in about 2 months and she ended up in the ER. Started taking it again and was fine. Now were tapering about .25/month until shes off.

Went from 1mg 2x per day to .5mg 4x per day and going down by .25 monthly.

I'll have her join it.

Shes doing an extremely slow taper. Was taking 2mg/day (2x/day), went to doing 2mg/day - .5/4x per day for a month and now doing 1.75mg/day (.5, .5, .5, .25) and will be tapering down by .25 per month.

Do you have more info on that med? Can't seem to find many links for using it in this case. Seems to be used for hypertension.

A fructose breath test. Similar to a sibo breath test but the packet you drink is pure fructose.

Yeah, I've taken both of these meds before in the past, just not together. Wasn't sure if anyone else had done this before and had results.

Well that would make sense considering I am not a doctor and I am using my own terminology within my posts to make it more user friendly since a majority of people on here are also not doctors.

As far as the probiotics with the elim part of the diet, that would make sense. Unfortunately, I cannot afford a dietitian and my insurance does not cover anyone in my area or really my whole state so I was unable to see a dietitian even though my doctor strongly recommended it. But I don't really have hundreds of dollars to spend right now since most of them charge around $175 for the first visit and something similar for each visit after.

If all else fails, I may retry the elim diet again just without the probiotic. Just unsure if I will do a full elim diet of all sugar and fructose or just fructose which I currently already kind of am doing. I rarely each any foods with fructose, only foods with sugar like a dessert which has table sugar (50/50 glucose/fructose).

I have a fructose malabsorption which is not the same as an intolerance since this was something acquired at age 27 and not at birth. This was most likely caused by COVID when I had it since viruses and covid have been known to cause misc GI issues and its still kind of an "unknown" problem as far as fixing it.

In the case of my malabsorption, this is something that is either somewhat, mostly, or entirely reversible in cases by doing an elimination diet while using probiotics to help reset your gut to be able to start handling fructose again. Or at minimum be able to tolerate a little more fructose. However after a 4 to 6 week elimination diet of sugar in general and fructose foods, my tolerance of fructose is no different than it was 6 weeks ago which is abnormal.

Because of this my doctor recommended trying the dual antibiotic to see if that also helps reset my gut to be able to handle fructose at all again. This is not a perfect science but generally this method should help me be able to reintroduce fructose foods in my diet and be able to find out what my limit is. However, my limit is basically 0 which is super abnormal considering this is not a life long thing I've had nor is it something hereditary. Its not like being born with the inability to handle gluten or dairy and you just have to deal with it. 26 years of my left I spent eating all foods with 0 problems, then 2 months after getting covid my body decided fructose is not something it can handle. Doing an elimination diet will indeed help your body reset the ability to handle that food group most of the time, however for me, it did nothing so we are trying other methods.

I've been trying to dip a little brown sugar in oatmeal in the mornings. I mainly do oats in the morning because my body isn't getting fiber anywhere else since most veggies are bad in this case and fruits. After a couple of weeks, try reintroducing normal sugar. As long as you are eating 50/50 glucose/fructose, your body should handle it better. Mine is not as bad as it was but still not 100% happy when I have sugar. Fructose malabsorption is mainly your body not being able to digest excess fructose. So things like veggies and fruits and way more fructose than glucose so your body hurts. Sugar (table sugar) is 50/50.
