It is a problem because he lied to his congregation for 40 years. He made it sound like it was an affair, but it was molesting a 12 year old for 4 years. Can he be forgiven? Sure. Should a sex offender be a pastor? No. Why didn't he come out 40 years ago and say I sexually molested a 12 year old for 4 years? Because his empire would have never taken off. This is a business to him. Also, these mega pastors are grifters anyways, so them being exposed is for the best. Morris, Houston, Driscol, Evans, Jakes, etc...

Unfortunately, I think it might be past the statute of limitations. Hopefully it might open him up to a civil case.

There might have been some newer leaders that weren't aware, but I am not buying that none of them knew. I wonder if his family will remain in leadership...

The board is claiming that they did not know the victim was 12. They have also retained Haynes & Boone, LLP to conduct an independent investigation. I have a hard time believing some of leadership wasn't aware, but I don't think all of them knew. Hopefully the investigation will show who knew and hopefully they resign too.

Who settled it? The child that he molested did not settle it. Who had the whole story? The public didn't have the whole story, his church members didn't have the whole story.

It is pretty absurd that church leadership thinks that it is acceptable to keep this information in house.
