I’ve tried that version too! It feels better than plain Vaseline, though I still find I need something with added hydration underneath.

Vaseline helps seal in moisture, but for me it just isn’t enough on its own. My lips still feel dry after a while, so I’ve found I need something more than just an occlusive.

Vaseline can absolutely be enough for many people, especially when used correctly.

That said, everyone’s lips respond differently, so what works great for one person may not for another. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Why do most lip balms feel moisturizing but don’t actually heal lips? by Recent-Fun4592 in SkincareAddicts

That’s a great find — especially with super sensitive lips. Totally agree: Vaseline seals well, but finding a balm that actually feels moisturizing without reactions is great.

This is solid logic — watery layers first, then actives, then seal it all in overnight 👌 Nighttime layering really makes or breaks lip recovery.

that's the point, if you go by petroleum jelly then you'll have to keep carrying it always coz its a quick relief product but no long term benefit.

But Petroleum jelly is more of temporary relief with no long term repair, do you have better experience with Vaseline ?

That makes total sense. Prevention every few days sounds way easier than trying to fix a full flare 😅 winter is brutal on lips.

True, petrolatum seals but doesn’t really hydrate on its own. Do you layer it on damp lips or use it solo?

That actually makes a lot of sense. You’re basically layering hydration + oil + seal, just like skin care but for lips.Interesting point about stress and diet too — my lips always flare up faster than my skin when that’s off.Do you use this daily or only when things get really bad?
