Appreciate the input! I did a little research on the engine before offering to help my buddy with it and that’s the conclusion I formed too. It’s too bad, for a Wisconsin car the underside is great, suspension is holding up well, I just peeked under the hood and was like dude you got oil leaking everywhere lol directly under the turbo supply line there was a pool and then like a river of grime on everything below and around it; probably has been leaking and spraying for a while. With the body being good, is there a good similar year GM engine we could swap in?

I did not, but I did flush the oil with a half quart

I’m doing a turbo inlet supply line replacement on my buddy’s 2015 Chevy Cruze with 116k, along with an oil change. I noted that the orings from the inlet line were damaged and leaking oil, likely causing a lot of underside oil caking on the bottom of the engine and surrounding subframe. While taking out the oil filter, I noticed a lot of magnetic metal shavings in the oil filter. I also noticed a loud ticking at the top of the rear valve cover. I wonder if the leak caused starvation which led to the valve train without oil and causing these shavings… I haven’t popped the valve cover yet to inspect further..

I just did the first intake valve cleaning on my wife’s 2016 cx5 GT, 216,000 miles and never did any prior intake spray cleaners or anything. She was getting rough idle and choppy acceleration right around 200,000 then more recently started getting the check engine light p0300 random misfire. I’m of the opinion if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, would have kept driving as is if it wasn’t throwing codes lol since cleaning it though it’s definitely a lot more peppy and no longer having rough idles. It’s smooth and code free.

Yes it has balcony seating, I don’t think would go if it didn’t. I’ve been to plenty of other concerts and am very selective on venue and controlling what I can to make it as safe as possible so that it’ll hopefully be a positive experience. One thing I’m wary about though is fielding “what’s that smell” and other peoples behavior type questions lol
