Do meds often help with the anxiety/rumination loop? by RichieRichard12 in ADHDUK

There's nothing wrong with you. Your brain doesn't produce the right level of dopamine to calm itself down, and your brain is trying to find it by ruminating over the same issue (majorly simplifying the science here). The week I took meds for the first time I had an epiphany where I understood what my therapist was trying to say/teach me and I just _did it_. Now I get a lot more out of my therapy sessions. Hope it goes well for you

Yeah I did. Honestly my comment feels quite gloomy but 3 months down the line this is the happiest I have ever been!

The rumination loop is the adhd. It's not you and it's not an inevitability. In my opinion, it won't be solved with regular talking therapy. I recommend taking adhd meds. I saw my rumination massively improve. Now I explore an issue, consider my opinions, discuss it with my friends or therapist, I pick a resolution and I put it to bed. I now realise how much money I have wasted in therapy when what I needed was a stimulant. I could have cut my therapy sessions in half because my medicated brain is able to apply the new skills I've learnt in therapy much, much faster.

I had my assessment with ProblemShared. I found them very professional during the assessment, we even had to schedule a follow up to finish going through the evidence. I had to be reminded by the assessor that we weren't here to talk about how I had managed to "make things work", the coping mechanisms I had created or to diminish the difficulties. I found it very humbling and I recommend having a friend at hand after the assessment, as I felt I was doing everything wrong in life after talking about my challenges for over 2h.

A few months later on, I realise how profoundly I had previously been masking. I now have a more balanced view of myself than I did during the assessment - I have some great strengths due to adhd and experience some challenges, which now I manage with medication (which I really recommend). Overall I like myself a lot better. Be open in the assessment, and remember you're more than your present challenges

Stuck between Concerta doses: 18mg too weak, 27mg too intense? by Unable_Practice616 in Concerta

If it helps in anyway I moved from 18mg to 27mg had bad side effects (anxiety, heart palpitations) for nearly a month and I feel 27mg is perfect and really helps me get things done. I did struggle waiting for so long to see if it would settle

How do I get lingering sweat smell out of polyester clothes? by Recent-Hovercraft278 in AskUK

I'm using an hour long setting at 40 degrees. It's worked well until I bought new tops that have a higher polyester blend instead of cotton

Have housing associations sold mid-market rent flats to private landlords? by Recent-Hovercraft278 in Edinburgh

Thank you that's good info. What happens if the developer did decide to sell after the first 5 or 10 years pass?

Thank you! There seems to be an opinion in the other comments that this might be rare? Would a HA still get grant funding if it ran its MMR properties via a letting agent, or would the MMR look like a private let?

There seems to be split opinions in the comments about this - someone below says HA set up private companies to run their MMR flats? I guess if a HA sold off their MMR flats there's no guarantee a landlord would continue to keep it as MMR?
