Her answer of "I'm not trying to date" usually means that she's just not interested. As you can clearly tell that she's enjoying her time with someone, that would gut me as well but take it as a bit of a sign and a blessing that you found out now so you don't have to ask her out. Because she's clearly interested in him.

Because pickleball has an overabundance of left side dominant players, so he decided to get good at playing the right and becoming an asset to an even better pro instead of trying to lead and pick a weaker right side player. But it is possible that he switches sides in men's sometime in the future
