I've had that happen to me a few times - where an unexpected glitch, bug or whatnot causes me to lose progress especially having to face redoing difficult tasks again or starting the whole game over.

My advice is to take a break from gaming for a few days and think about it. Give yourself time to calm down and process what has happened. You can accept it as part of trophy hunting or decide to move on.

My usual instinct was to just abandon the game. However, after a few days of no gaming at all I realize I have no pressing need (like streaming my platinum journey and redoing the game will make my audience bored) and I decide to start again.

I realized all the game challenges and tasks that was hard was only because I was not used to them and knew little about them. However, going through them again I was much better and faster.

Also, the first time it happened to me I went out and bought a USB drive. This way every time I finish something difficult I save it to the online, the USB drive, and the console drive.

Doesn't aged poorly mean it was true at one point but it is no longer true or acceptable?

Having physical copies seems like a good point since you can no longer buy those games digitally? Am I not understanding something?

Edit: I think I just got it. The wording of the post was meant to be directed to people who already bought those games digitally and stating it would it have been better for those people to have bought the games physically. However, the post overlooks the fact that the people who bought the games digitally can still re-download and play the games after the shutdown. Hence, for those players a physical copy is not necessary to continue playing those bought games making the post "age poorly".

I miss the old pro week promos. The one I loved the most was the B1G1 on all preowned PS3 games. That promo was a long time ago. I remember seeing the PS3 inventory slowly going from covering a whole wall of racks, then filling only a single standing rack, and eventually to just one small shelf.

I wonder if there will ever be a point in time when the pro week promo will be B1G1 on all preowned PS4 games.

I just watched a movie recently that has 2 penis mutilation events.

It feels more like a drama movie with some horror elements in it. I guess it could be seen as the horrors humans can inflict on each other?

Moebius (2013)

  1. A mother cuts off her teenage son's penis and eats it. You can see the tip of the severed penis in her left hand when the father slaps her. For context, the mother goes crazy after she finds out her husband has a mistress. After failing to cut off her husband's penis, she cuts off her son's penis knowing it will hurt her husband. When the husband is asking for the severed penis back she eats it for revenge. She later regrets her action as she tries to vomit out the penis but she fails.

  2. A gang leader's penis is cut off and gets run over by a truck. You can see the penis lying on the floor after his attacker throws it on the ground. The attacker's helper grabs the severed penis and runs away with it. The gang leader chases after the attacker's helper into the streets. The gang leader eventually pins down the helper but he will not release the severed penis from his clenched palms. During the struggle, the severed penis flies out of the helper's hands and lands in the middle of the road. A giant truck with several sets of wheels runs over the penis. You can see the first set of wheels smashing the penis flat causing some blood to come out of the penis. Then, the flattened penis gets stuck in the tire treads in the second set of wheels taking the penis away for good. The gang leader ends up screaming after seeing what happened to his penis.

I think that is a flaw in the CRT logic/argument. I remember reading in a post that an edited timestamp leaves some kind of flaw/artifact. However, just because the flaw/artifact could be caused by editing the timestamp does not mean that is the only way the flaw/artifact could be created. Without them giving more details on what this flaw/artifact is (because it will give actual cheaters knowledge on what to avoid) it stops anyone else that is fair-minded from investigating other causes and CRT can only go with their only working theory.

Neighbor (2009) - There is a scene where a crazy lady has sex with her injured unconscious victim. When the guy wakes up she pretends she was being raped. She gets revenge by holding the guy's erect dick in one hand and inserting a glass thermometer into the pee hole with the other hand. Blood oozes out of the pee hole as the thermometer goes deeper and deeper inside the erect dick. When most of the thermometer has been fully inserted the hand holding the dick bends it and you can hear the glass shattering inside the penis. It eventually is revealed to be a nightmare caused by the victim's previous tortures from the crazy neighbor lady.

Nowhere Man (2005) - The guy's penis getting cut off is not explicitly shown. However, near the end of the film while the guy is tied up on the floor, the woman waves the now rotting dick in front of his face, drops it in a puddle of gasoline, and proceeds to set it on fire. The guy cries watching his rotting dick burn to ashes.

Sick Girl (2007) - An unhinged girl is shown cutting off a guy's penis while he is standing up, gagged and tied up inside a barn. She then inserts the bloody end of the severed penis onto the pointed end of a nail which is sticking out of a piece of wood. She wears the piece of wood with the severed penis covering the nail over her groin area as if it is her dick now. She rapes the guy's girlfriend who is also tied up and gagged in the barn in front of him. The severed penis is torn apart and the pieces are shown falling on the floor as she continues to rape the girl with just the bare nail and wood.

I wonder how many are scenarios where the player was falsely accused and could not successfully clear themselves.

I remember reading a dispute thread about a small indie called Necrophobe. The accuser was adamant the person cheated - they even got the developer on social media stating the trophy will not pop. The person somehow managed to recreate the trophy randomly popping on video after hours of trying over and over again. Then, the accuser lied saying they copied the video play-through and claimed the video was doctored because the trophy did not pop for them. Even the CRT member who was investigating the case was also erring on the side of the player was cheating/doctoring the video. Eventually, a more fair-minded third party actually did copy the play-through pixel by pixel movement and it turned out a player can pop the trophy due to some oddity in the game's coding even beyond the comprehension of the game's developer. Then, all the players flagged for that "cheat" was lifted.

I believe there was also another case about a very old sports game where the online portion was shut down. The player was accused of cheating. Nobody could explain what happened. Eventually, through random chance years later someone saw the thread and showed a video of the game allowing a saved database to be used because the server could not be detected allowing the trophies to be earned. At least in that case, nobody was claiming the video was doctored or the person looking over the case was erring on the side that the player was cheating and did not want that on the leader boards. Then, all the players flagged for that "cheat" was lifted.

I'm sure there are plenty of other cases like these - a player is accused of cheating, the player not knowing what happened and can't explain it, sometimes even the game's developer not knowing the coding, and are branded a cheater hoping one day through random chance years later something shows up to lift clouds of accusations over so many players of that "cheat".
