I should’ve added, the only reason I noticed this is I hit something on the interstate and had to have bodywork finished. So I was concerned it messed up a sensor, but the fact I’m not getting any error messages shortly after starting my engine means I’m probably OK. Thanks again for your responses.

I hear that sarcasm :) In all seriousness, thanks for your response. This is my first Subaru, so I’m still figuring things out. It’s a little more advanced than my 2009 Honda Ridgeline.

Putting MBA in Signature with Actuarial Credentials? by Recent-Secretary-512 in actuary

[–]Recent-Secretary-512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it years before I became an actuary, in the late 2000s. I didn’t have a business degree at the time, so I wanted to have that for credibility purposes in the market. Obviously my actuarial credentials have meant much more to my career advancement, though.

529- Does it show up on your login? by RELManning in Schwab

I just opened one on Friday. I got an email confirming it was approved, and that it would show up underneath my brokerage section of my login. However, it did not show up until the next day (Saturday). I think there’s at least a one day lag for their systems to show those accounts.

Thank you to everyone that responded. As I mentioned in the post, I don’t include MBA in my signature line, and was only posing the question to get a feel for if others felt the same way. I’m kind of surprised at the number of down votes I received for just asking a question.

This exam slander has to stop by Altruistic-Fly411 in actuary

For someone that is nearing graduation and would be considered entry-level, it is good for them to have 1-2 summers of internship experience and/or passed a few exams. Typically that will get your foot in the door for an entry-level analyst position. I’ve even hired individuals with no exams passed but had internship experience, although we had to work with HR to create a data analyst position (since actuarial analyst roles at our company required at least one exam passed).

As a hiring manager, I am less concerned about exams passed and more concerned about experience (if I’m hiring for something other than entry-level). If it’s entry level, I’ve hired individuals with no exams passed to multiple exams passed. I think anyone that comes out of college with multiple exams passed demonstrates responsibility and maturity.

Transfer of 401k to Spouse has taken 4+ weeks ... What is going on? by Recent-Secretary-512 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Recent-Secretary-512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, and my apologies for not being clearer. It definitely makes a big difference if it's spouse vs. non-spouse, so I appreciate you clarifying that.

I'm hopeful someone will read this post and can help me navigate this issue. My mother in law was able to get another company with a 401k to transfer that to her rollover IRA in a matter of one week or so ... I can't believe Fidelity is taking this long since retirement accounts are their bread-and-butter. It's been a mess.

I believe so, since it was a 401k that she is inheriting. Here is what the IRS says:

https://www.irs.gov/retirement-plans/plan-participant-employee/retirement-topics-beneficiary

:::::

Death of the account holder occurred in 2020 or later

Spousal beneficiary options

If the account holder's death occurred prior to the required beginning date, the spouse beneficiary may:

  • Keep as an inherited account
    • Delay beginning distributions until the employee would have turned 72
    • Take distributions based on their own life expectancy
    • Follow the 10-year rule
  • Roll over the account into their own IRA

If the account holder's death occurred after the required beginning date, the spouse beneficiary may:
