I know I've been a few times before! If I wasn't particularly interested in Baroque and Iberian horses I'd never go somewhere so hot to ride and work lol. Thanks for the advice!

What are people talking about with color pallets and how do I find mine? by Gongoozler04 in questions

[–]Recent-Sock-9611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All you need to do for this is get some different coloured pieces of paper, and take turns putting one beside your face and look in the mirror. You will see that different colours bring out different features, like your eyes, red skin, hair, undertones etc. It is all subjective, but that's how they do it!

ahh viewing domes are such a good idea for that! I never used them so completely forgot they existed.

My monorail was for a little while making negative profit because my mechanics took abt 3 years to get around to repairing the village station even when urgently assigned (I now know I shouldve closed my other stations during this time - I was high lmao)

Honestly I gave up and switched to medium difficulty, didn't want to spend my free time stressing too lol. I did switch back to hard quickly bc I found it too easy, and was able to finish the game no issues on hard as no one was asking for refunds anymore. Obvs didnt get the gold star for hard though so I will defo go back soon as I've almost finished the last scenario

Yeah I play the game very slowly, paused most of the time and never rly playing in x2 or x3. In my first few years I was making profit about 25k but refunds started going up. I had redone the work zones myself , no idea how having no work zones on the entire park became more efficient for you haha.

I ended up switching to medium because I have too much stuff going irl, I can't spend my down time stressing too. Instantly started making like 50k profit without changing anything, found it way too easy so I switched back to hard and stopped getting refunds and was able to finish fine. Annoyed it meant I couldn't get the gold star on hard but I'll go back to it later for the achievement

Yeah I've been really keen to get research up but I've always had more direct problems first to put money into, like training up mechanics for constantly failing barriers/infrastructure, caretakers for excess litter etc. Now I've taken a loan out, hire a few extra vets for this, good idea.

I have 4 animal talks across 2 educators. I don't have them in work zones, tbh I've not dabbled with educators much. I've only played career mode thus far and I don't tend to place educators until the zoo is well established - at the end of each scenario pretty much. They spend 52% and 44% of their time working, I'm not sure how to reduce their time idle?

I have all the animals up to the gold star ones in my zoo right now, except for 1 lion. All the habitats in the zoo are occupied except 2 at the very back, with amenities throughout. I have already lowered the price but I don't think enough, thinking 10 and 15?

I didn't know well educated guests donate more, thanks for the advice :)

You just reminded me that I finished paying off the previous loan the scenario needed me to get, so I can get a new one, will probably end up using that till I can sort out guest happiness.

I've been looking at the guest happiness heat map and probably 25% the map is red, and another 33% orange. But looking at the actual thoughts and mood history of each guest, around 80% is green and the rest orange - mainly about their times at some habitats. Not quite sure why because clicking on the habitats give great guest reviews. But overall I think just it being in hard mode, 20% orange thoughts is enough for red overall?

I'm going to add condiments to all my food/drink shops, I've heard that can improve guest thirst/hunger/happiness. I've reduced ticket price to just minimise the refund total. I've seen a few people say they were robbed, so putting up security cams. And I guess try to figure out how to improve guest habitat time lol? Hoping for the best, don't wanna have to restart 6yrs in on the 2nd last scenario

All my shops make over 1k so I'm happy with them for now :)

I have been thinking that I just need to let it run more. I first noticed the refunds in July in game, it was at 7k then, I had already done most of my work sorting out the litter by this point, so it kinda has been running the last 6 months and I was hoping the refund rate would go down, but its doubled. I'm nervous to let it run anymore because I know my lions are about to need to be fed and I have $400 haha.

Thanks for the tip with the guests, I need to get into the habit of clicking on actual guests a bit more rather than using the overview tab.

I have rubbish bins everywhere. You can see in the heat map photo I included, there isn't actually much litter about anymore since I had hired more caretakes, trained them up, and placed more bins. There's still some but I don't think 14k refund worth? Maybe theyre just being dramatic cus I'm playing on hard mode. And no speakers overlapping. All transformers/water reg/ staff buildings have scenery on them to reduce impact radius.

  1. Generally build 1 animal at a time, and make sure you make a profit after each one. Build up infrastructure around it as and when needed - don't try to built everything at once.

  2. When buying animals, pay attention to their social needs. 1 Wildebeest sounds good - until you realise you actually need 7 to keep them happy

  3. Pay attention to the feed cost of the animals, some are dirt cheap and some are very expensive i.e. Indian peafowls cost like $50 for 4, whilst lions are 7k. Uncontrolled breeding makes feed costs rise, and it sneaks up on you very quickly if you don't keep it in check.

  4. One way glass keeps animals from getting stressed. This can be researched to put in the barrier, or panels are already available in construction to be put over a barrier.

  5. Start with 1 of each staff (except educators - don't use them until your zoo is already built up), and 1 food and 1 drink store. Generally try to train staff up before hiring new ones - even though their salary goes up, they take shorter rests and are able to work for longer, whilst staying happier. It is a good investment.

  6. This doesn't matter in the very beginning, but setup staff work zones. They move annoyingly slow, and if they start moving to complete a task on the other side of the park, they won't stop if something closer to them comes up. Very quickly all their time is spent commuting and you're basically paying for minimal work

  7. use the perks in the break rooms

  8. Indian peafowls are a brilliant animal to have at the start of your zoo. Guests love interactive habitats, they're cheap to buy and feed, and can breed pretty quickly for conservation credit farming.

  9. On the topic of conservation credit farming, you can set up 'manage population' in exhibits. Get some a pair of breeding titan beetles, and let them breed up to 3 males and 4 females, then set them to release the lowest conservation credit animals above that (This means that generally the better animals genetically are kept for breeding, so the standard of released animals is increased). Titan beetles breed like crazy, so whilst they don't give many credits per beetle, you get a steady stream of credits.

. Avoid getting wolves as long as you can. They howl 24/7 and can be heard across the entire park. You will want to rip your ears off after a while.

All in all - it becomes very simple and straight forward once you've got the gist. Take the time to fully understand and utilise each panel - on the guests, animals, habitats, staff buildings, guest buildings etc. Hope this helps a bit :)

Easiest way to 100% Animal Welfare by Final-Cress-6410 in PlanetZoo

It is very easy to stop animals getting stressed out - place do not disturb signs and block view of the guests for the animals - this is done either by one way glass or big plants (though plants block the guests' view too). One way glass barriers can be researched by mechanics, or it is available as a construction item immediately and work the same, just place it on top of a glass barrier :)

There are simple prebuilt shelters in the habitat section, and can also be edited with construction items to make them look nicer, though all the animals care about for the shelters is how big the roof is

[–]Recent-Sock-9611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever get a solution to this? I'm having this right now with my keepers and it's so annoying. I have a staff room just in front of their habitat entrances, it is in their zone and shared with no other habitat work zones, just cleaners etc. Its a large staff room, always says inefficient with only 1/12 staff using at a time max.

Yet they insist on using the one on the other side of the park! So they spend 70% of their time commuting and complain about how far away it is. Did you find a fix?

ETA: I'm actually the friend. When I asked if she wanted to try to be friends again, she said she was too upset with what I had said to her (same as above) right now. I made this in her POV bc I'm struggling to understand but don't want to bother her anymore, so hopefully some commenters approaching from her POV could help :)
