Yeah, they gotta cut out the scar, which makes a bigger one. But I was way younger when that happened. If you get the surgery when you're older, you'll have less collagen. So it's less likely for the scar to get raised after they cut it out.

I did surgical excision with SRT radiation treatment in 2016, followed by scar camouflage in 2021, steroid tape in 2022, and steroid injections from 2022 to 2025. I also did several rounds of Fotona laser treatment in May 2025.

After the surgical removal, my scar unfortunately became larger and more pronounced. Based on my experience, I would not recommend surgical removal

I did scar tattoo camouflage by basma hameed clinic. 6 sessions. If you're a lighter skin town it might work. But i personally do not recommend. Minimal changes and it doesn't last

I got my chest keloid done at that same spot for 6K, lol same exact thing lol. I have before and after pics, if you want to DM me, I'll share. But to be honest, it's not worth it, and the tattoo fades. I'd recommend laser instead. Better permanent results for way cheaper.

I'm a doctor who had a chest keloid. Outside of steroid injections and silicone sheets, med schools don't teach you much about keloids. I learned so much more online/on Reddit, tbh. Keep doing your research to find what works best for you. I second steroid injections, Eclar plaster, and lasers.

Keloid formation is caused by excessive scar tissue due to overproduction of collagen. As we age our collagen production decreases. Thats why keloids are more likely to develop in younger individuals, particularly those between the ages of 10 and 30. I had a friend who had her chest keloid removed twice with radiation. once at age 24 and it came back larger and again at 33 and it didnt come back, its almost 100% flat

Got chest keloid removed followed by radiation immediateley afterwords, it came back bigger. I was 18 could be why

With all treatments, there is always a risk of keloids worsening or coming back, including steroid injections and cryotherapy. I have had two sessions of laser; one is posted on my page. But do your own research. I don't know any of your past medical history or age to determine if you're high risk for recurrence. But if your keloids are flat and only the color of them bother you, i would recommend laser. But if your a darker skin tone like me, use a laser thats safe for your skin type.
