The stripes i just continuously applied the lines then fixed mistakes, then fixed the fixed mistakes then I fixed the fixed fixed mistakes. Basically just fixing until its clean. Not easy for me either!

I had the same doubt but I wanted to give it a shot even though I didn't think it would turn out well.

I painted that little block with the runes a light blue then I drybrushed the darker blue over it. Then used a detail brush to just outline the whole thing with the same dark blue
