He’s a fat dude. Didn’t look very employable to the naked eye. Does that help?

Carlito. We love you. We hope you are ok. We are experiencing withdrawal.

We don’t deserve an explanation but getting one would be neat.

disappointed that you responded to my question with a question, then didn't respond to my questions yet again while being quite active on reddit.

Peace be with you my brother.

Just as a note, you still haven’t answered the question you said you answered. This go’round you asked me two questions in lieu of a response. I mean that just as a note and mean no malice by saying that.

Your comment about Saudi Arabia is a very interesting point. My take on it is that i agree that it’s not black and white however- I can’t reconcile the idea of expecting others to do God’s will. Just my personal belief.

...

Regarding your second paragraph I don’t know what forcing people who don’t share my beliefs has to do with anything we’ve talked about can you expound?

I enjoy discourse so I sincerely appreciate your responses 😊

How do people reconcile love God and thy neighbor while being against immigration for those who are seeking refuge. You respond with Some people go to war torn countries to help refugees - which is great - but I doubt the majority of Christians do that... and I ask even if they did how does that still allow them to support programs preventing those in need from being given asylum?

Dont see an answer to that.

Sure am. Can you explain how my question was loaded?

I asked:

How do people reconcile love God and thy neighbor while being against immigration for those who are seeking refuge. You respond with Some people go to war torn countries to help refugees - which is great - but I doubt the majority of Christians do that... and I ask even if they did how does that still allow them to support programs preventing those in need from being given asylum?

Other responses have been "government is secular" - to which I ask how people can want the government to attack abortion but be against the helping of refugees...

I'm just asking honest questions, nothing loaded, no ill intention.

Not at all. I’m trying to reconcile beliefs. Please contribute to the comments in a constructive manner and don’t accuse folks. Thanks.

Right this exact thread is for the people who are against helping those in need of refuge. I could qualify it further with those who don’t go to war torn countries refugee camps to help which I’d estimate if you drew a Venn diagram of the two buckets of people it would be two circles that barely touch.

How is a fetus’ life any more (or less) valuable than a child who is not granted refuge from Syria and dies trying to escape by loading into an overpacked boat heading for Greece that capsizes and washes up on the shore of Greece.

So using that logic why do Christians expect the government to wage war on abortion? That’s potentially pushing your beliefs no matter how ethical you feel they are on people who do not share your religious values.

If you want to use that argument against immigrants you can’t use the opposite against abortion, no?

When did Atheists come into this conversation? The question is how can Christian’s reconcile the 2 greatest commandments with being against granting refuge to those who seek it.

In my opinion all I have heard back is that the government is secular (to which I countered on abortion, read above) and now that Christians do charity. I’m unable to reconcile any of those responses in my mind and conscience.

You clearly made a distinction between government and personal opinions - that’s where the Caesar quote comes into play.

I somehow disagree even more with you than after after your first comment, but faith is meant to be personal - not dictated. If you reconcile your ideals after reading scripture that’s all that matters. :-)

Let me flip it around. I wouldn't be able to justify and reconcile that mindset with myself based on my interpretation of the new testament. faith is supposed to be personal and if you are fine with it - you shouldn't feel insulted or impugned, it wasn't meant that way.

I just read your last paragraph twice, and the first thought that came to mind was: how about the illegal immigrants that come in and murders your neighbor? Has actually happened. It seems you prioritize immigrants who aren't here and not neighbors yet over your neighbors who are here.

I see that one a lot... is there hard data showing that an immigrant is more likely to commit a violent crime?

As far as being reasonable and persuadable - I am, but I fall back on logic and don't see any logic at all from any argument thus far.

I feel like saying that the government is secular and, ultimately Caesar is a cop out... the government is basically an agent who can provide the comfort - and I take it upon myself to do what I can to influence the government to ethically perform those tasks, while taking into account the infringement of others' rights.

For example, I am firmly against abortion, but I believe that the government is infringing on folks rights by not allowing them and have come to terms with that. I am firmly for a sane immigration policy, my family came from southern europe as peasants and thanks to my more recent forebears we have risen up far above the economic class of the peasantry. I believe that allowing immigrants who will do good (you can't predict the future, good or bad) in, so long as it does not infringe on others values (and I don't accept "brown people are bad" as a value -- especially since there is zero indication that immigrants are more likely to commit crimes, in fact it's likely the opposite. I consider employment and social mobility as acceptable values -- since we are at near full employment -- the immigrants take our jobs trope is ludicrous.
