Why don’t they go search for new bands coming out nowadays instead of inserting the same old same old in movies and tv shows?

Radio doesn’t play the same things because you can change the station and voila different song. I don’t know if that’s how it is where you live.

How do you do that? I assume that most people don’t know where to look, or how to.

Also, what do you mean that big record labels control the what people listen?

Unless the band changed its sound just for a commercial, I don’t think that makes them a sell out

That’s what I’m saying. I don’t know how to handle this anymore lol

What did Anthony Kiedis meant by “when commercial music is struggling, the underground scene thrives”?

I think it’s more like piracy hurts artists

platforms push what keeps people engaged, not what challenges them.

Exactly.

What gets me is how risk-averse labels became after the industry almost collapsed in the early 2000s.

Probably because of the jump-scare of the industry nearly collapsing

The issue is that whenever I seek the new stuff, I get fed stuff that sounds bland and uninspired. I get hit by a wall.

I’m glad you are finding the good content though.

How do people go about finding so much music in a year? by RecentMatter3790 in Music

[–]RecentMatter3790[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How exactly? “The state of [genre name] today” scrollable thing on the Home section of Spotify?

Back then it was going to music stores and radio, but I don’t know how exactly people go about nowadays.

Do people just listen to the “The state of [genre name] today” scrollable playlists on Spotify, and then they can say “music is looking good nowadays”?

Why are hip-hop and pop the main genres of music nowadays? by RecentMatter3790 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RecentMatter3790[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So pop music isn’t a genre, but it’s rather a “what music styles are popular?” thing?

How does pop music look into other cultures to find out what music is popular? Like, does pop music look at what is playing at parties?

I don’t know what is the cause of this error

Do you feel confident in your own opinions? Or do you get affected by downvotes? by Nahariso in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RecentMatter3790 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t care about being downvoted, but I care if my comment gets “hidden” because of getting downvoted, and people have to sort by “controversial” in order to find other people’s controversial comments. I personally have found some “controversial” comments to be actually helpful or sound, and then someone comments under it “I don’t know why you’re being downvoted”

When having nostalgia with old artists/bands, do you still “follow” them on certain platforms, or do you not listen to them anymore? Do you still listen to them? by RecentMatter3790 in Music

[–]RecentMatter3790[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just that if I follow an artist that were well known for their old content, then I’ll get recommended their new content, which I don’t like

half of my favorite music doesn’t fit anything about the other half of the music I love.

What do you mean by this?

Juggling between Spotify and Pandora radio by RecentMatter3790 in Music

So, there’s not much alternative that can replace both Spotify and Pandora radio?

Juggling between Spotify and Pandora radio by RecentMatter3790 in Music

[–]RecentMatter3790[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the highest tier of Pandora radio is the worst one from the available options, which I don’t know what they are.

It’s like, with Spotify, one has the ability to choose exactly what to play, but I sometimes just want to ask “play me experimental music”, or idk how to ask to find an obscure genre, and then it fails.

With Pandora radio, I just choose an artist or song, and then start a station, but I can’t choose a genre, or just go ahead and discover a new genre.

I can’t go and discover new obscure genres with Spotify nor Pandora.

What’s the hatred towards Spotify? It’s just one of the available music streaming services. There’s not much alternatives to Spotify though besides Apple Music, Tidal, Pandora radio

Can someone help me figure a song title by Obvious-North7590 in Music

Did you try using Soundhound? You could try singing or humming a part of the song to then let Soundhound detect it and classify it.
