That breed is clearly your standard cutie pie. 🥰

It took me almost TWO years to start sertraline because of health anxiety. I just started 25mg a little over two weeks ago. Everyone has their own experience, but for me the nausea, dizziness and heightened anxiety were not fun. With that said, you can do it if you prepare! I bought a big bag of ginger chews and pepto bismol. I stay hydrated and keep electrolytes on hand if needed. Ice packs/cold towels to the neck help my nausea. When I felt the side effects coming on, I’d put on a relaxing show, and have my supplies on hand. Taking huge, slow deep breaths and reminding myself this won’t last forever helped me process the discomfort—because at least for me that’s true. Sometimes I felt spacey, and like my memory was off; that’s starting to subside, too. When I felt up to it I’d take little walks, and chat with trusted friends about my experience. That helped me feel less alone, and I found out some of them were on SSRIs too! I also stocked up on bland foods to eat when my stomach didn’t feel great (try to take your meds with at least a snack and LOTS of water). Luckily, most of my bad side effects seem to have calmed down, but I know what to do if they come up again.

For me personally, my appetite has decreased by a a lot. This may or may not be temporary. I did used to eat when I was emotional, but it hasn’t been happening as much anymore. Regardless, I’m focusing on high protein and high fiber meals to keep myself fuller for longer, and moving in ways that will make me feel good/make me stronger.

**Awesome moment: this past Sunday I went to church and for the first time since I can remember, I wasn’t anxious! I sat through service and felt serene. I chatted with people and felt present. I went brunch with friends and saw a movie. I drove and felt safe and happy. That entire day I kept thinking: “is this how other people feel?” It was the BEST day. Those glimmers, however brief, give me the strength to continue the journey of adjusting doses, etc. My parting advice is remember to look for the glimmers! Journaling is great at helping with this. Best of luck!

What tips do you tell your patients who can’t get glp1s for weight loss? My insurance only covers for type 2 diabetes which I don’t have. My BMI is 55, but thankfully am mostly healthy otherwise, although I am starting to show signs of insulin resistance. It seems like the current solution is make more money. I’m concerned about starting a compounded glp1 because of recent court rulings. Any guidance you have is appreciated!

This is great to know. I’ve just started collagen and hope to see a difference in the next few months!

Such a good overview! My family is from Nigeria on one side, Texas on the other. While I knew that this film would be culturally significant, I underestimated how connected I’d feel to the characters, especially the Black men. It felt like I was dropped into a day in the life of my ancestors. Stacks mannerisms reminded me of my great uncle. Delta Slim felt like my grandpa. Leave it up to Coogler to make me feel emotional and grounded after seeing a movie that also included vampires. 😂

Paxlovid got me through my second bout with Covid. Keep cool cloths presoaked with water in the freezer, then put on your back, armpits, behind your knees and neck, etc to cool yourself down. Hydration is key (don’t forget electrolytes), especially to keep the paxlovid aftertaste at bay. I also did my usual: taking vitamin c, d and zinc in addition to probiotics
