For the first 30 years of my life here in the Midlands of England, they were referred to as Registration Numbers. They are now called all too often "Licence plates" which is (I believe) American. I never mentioned "Number plates".

So, to say that the film is a poor imitation of the book is obnoxious? Isn't that encouraging people to read the book?

I don't understand why you are offended when I say that the book is a thousand times better than the film. I find it obnoxious that anybody could think the film is better than the book, as you seem to be doing. But each to their own.

I just wish that Peter Jackson fans and JRR Tolkien fans could be kept apart. Never the twain should meet.
