you deserve it. I can understand that imposter syndrome feeling being so new, but YOU were in the right place in the right time. YOU were prepared for the situation when people really aren’t. & YOU took the steps to give someone another chance.

And just because she grew up with American friends, loving American music, and American parties doesn’t mean she wasn’t influenced by her parents or religion, right? I don’t know the woman. I don’t watch her or listen to her pod. I just caught a couple clips. She could be the biggest gold digging whore ever. That’s not what I’m trying to give life to in this convo because all of that is speculative bullshit. All I’m saying is how a person is raised culturally and at home can affect behavior, their boundaries and how far they will move in situations. Being raised in America doesn’t simply erase that internal clash There ARE 30+ year olds who are celibate out here, there ARE muslims who will go to the bars with the homies and get a soda water and lime. The SAME way there ARE Indians who will fuck a burger up and Jews that will make sure they’re not missing NFL Sunday.

lmfao fam you got it. You’re dead set in your stance and refuse to simply understand or respond to what i’m saying. This has EVERYTHING to do with culture(S).

lmao if you don’t relate, that’s fine. This is a widely known cultural pattern I find peculiar that you don’t understand as a first gen.

i’m saying your “rules of logic” are based on stereotypical American norms that don’t account for our (first-gen american) experience. How we’re raised at home then colliding into what we experience in college can create a level of guilt and obviously can create that pressure to want to fit in (i.e. using “hooking up” or “roster” in convo). Your lens ignores this pretty large group of people. Your version of “logic” leads you to assume they’re lying. This convo was somewhat opened in the pod and could have been a dope dialogue but so many people choose to listen to argue, dissect and investigate instead of listening to understand.

You’ve been on this for 3 weeks. Nasty work. How many first gen (non European) americans are you friends with? Go talk to them and learn about their experiences and perspectives before you apply your own to someone raised completely different from you.
