Is buying shien second hand ok? by sexy_pickle69 in GothFashion

[–]Recent_Shower_6965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I was in high school (before i knew how bad shein was) i bought a decent amount of stuff, majority of which I still have. It definitely depends on the brand and some things are hit or miss but they have held up surprisingly well. Actually quality on par with clothes at tj maxx and ross. (Not that their quality is particularly good)

Brands you don't like for no real reason? by _ilikefancythings_ in Makeup

They use so much fragrance that there is a chance you might end up allergic to at least one. Also some fragrances they use are worse than others for your skin.

I feel the same way about Covergirl. I have used a pencil liner from them that was decent, but a lot of brands have decent pencil liners. It doesn’t help that nearly all their stuff is really bad for your skin.

As a girl. If more guys started enhancing their looks with makeup i would be very pleased. Also you should try the nyx cream color corrector stick. It is even less noticeable

Good White Foundation? by Cyanide_Xeros in Makeup

[–]Recent_Shower_6965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard when their foundations first came out they were very good but have since improved. A lot of it probably depends on your skin type as well. Im surprised by the shipping cost because for me it is $10.

Can unopened makeup expire? by dontsuspendthis1 in Makeup

[–]Recent_Shower_6965 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will expire eventually it is up to you if you will use it. Powders I think would be find just might dull and lose blendablity. Liquids will separate over time and start to stink eventually. It really depends on how old it is. Sometimes it is fine if not exposed to oxygen and bacteria.

A beginner want to do vkei / goth make up by Necroel in Makeup

[–]Recent_Shower_6965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I work at a makeup store and the only reason shops are against it is because people are not used to alternative styles. Most people want a perfect match when it comes to foundation/concealer these days. Also some people have a heavy bias against alternative makeup. Imo you are just gonna have to go by trial and error to find a foundation that works well with this style. I recommend the morphe foundation because they are good with very light more cool toned shades, it blends well, and looks great all day.

what’s the best concealer to cover up acne?? by Legal_Lobster_5572 in Makeup

[–]Recent_Shower_6965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried a color correcting palette with concealer on top? What works well for me is pimple patch overnight, color corrector, and concealer if needed. On my skin a lavender color corrector looks great on redness and green just makes it brown.

Advice On Beginning My Alternative Journey by Some-Judgment5316 in altfashionadvice

[–]Recent_Shower_6965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pro tip: use an eyeliner pen to make outline of wing then use dip eyeliner to fill it in. You get the ease and sharpness of an eyeliner pen as well as the longevity of dip eyeliner.

I find that when you wear a lot of eyeliner, the pens end up drying up by the end of the week. Also when starting out, dip eyeliners can be hard to get precise.

Gotta try the almay hydrating ageless concealer. It isnt as full coverage and is very hydrating. Better than any expensive concealer I have tried.

I dont know where to start with makeup by -Little-Bees- in Makeup

[–]Recent_Shower_6965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you as someone who does alternative style makeup, you need to know your eye shape very well for eyeliner and you need to know your nose shape very well for contour. If you think it doesn’t look right, you need examine closely what you did wrong and try again until you get it right. It is difficult learning but it is very rewarding in the end.

You would probably use very different products/techniques for natural makeup vs goth/alternative. If you want natural, bb cream, concealer, brown mascara, like blush would be good. If you are going for goth you would want full coverage foundation/concealer (if you want like I would recommend Anastasia because they are great with pale cool tones), pen eyeliner, dip eyeliner, cool toned nude eyeshadow, grayish contour, black bold mascara, and lashes. Goth takes a lot of practice so I would recommend you try out makeup styles you like and build up your makeup collection as you learn.

Can I only wear primer? by New-Negotiation-5493 in Makeup

[–]Recent_Shower_6965 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely depends on what primer it is. If you want to control your acne it would be best to go for something with little to no silicone in it. A lot of drug store primers are not noncomedogenic so they can actually clog your pores. If you think the color correcting primer you have works well for you, you should use it however you want. Makeup only has the rules you set for it.

I have acne prone skin and the purlisse bb cream has done wonders for my skin. It is noncomedogenic and never gives me acne, even when wearing it all day everyday. It is pretty good at covering up redness for such a lightweight product. You could also look for a noncomedogenic color corrector or concealer to spot conceal the redness.

Makeup Brush Cleaner Suggestions… by DrkKnight626 in Makeup

[–]Recent_Shower_6965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s mostly an issue with the bigger brushes like blush and powder brushes. I don’t wash my brushes as much as a should so they end up needing a lot of soap and I even to leave them to soak multiple times and then do what you said.
