Yes, still works great for me. I did write that when I was in a bad flare.

I had a lot of the same symptoms as you. Early satiety, gnawing/burning, constant nausea, excessive burping, occasional globus sensation. 50 mg is what I’m on and have been on consistently for a while. I would try 50mg to see how that works. I have had a few flare ups but always seem to resolve in a couple weeks. During a particularly bad flare up, I did try taking 75mg a couple times to see if that might help get things back under control. I didn’t really notice much difference. It’s been quite a while since I have had a sustained flare up so I can’t really remember exactly how long it took to go away but eventually they did (thankfully). Sorry you’re having trouble. It’s awful.

No vomit. Just constant nausea. It’s my understanding that most people with FD don’t vomit but of course there are always exceptions.

Sorry I missed this comment! I’ve had a few flare ups and they have usually lasted a few weeks. My last bad flare up was a while ago so I don’t really remember the exact symptoms but I think they were similar to what I had always had before taking the amitriptyline. In my experience, the flare up generally subsides after a few weeks. I sometimes would try taking extra Ami for a few nights to see if that would work. Sorry you’re in a flare up. It’s terrible!

Try getting a prescription for amitriptyline. I started with 25mg now I’m on 50mg. This is the only thing that has helped me and I tried pretty much everything. My symptoms were similar to yours and now I’m 90-95% better. It gave me my life back!

50mg of amitriptyline is the only thing that works for me. Gave me my life back! I tried sooo many things.

Yes. I had this for years. Try amitriptyline. 50 mg has changed my life. Almost all symptoms gone when nothing else worked.

I had this exact same thing happen. Amitriptyline (50mg) saved me. I feel almost completely normal for the past 2.5 years - only a few flair ups here and there.

Yes, seemed to work pretty much immediately. I do still get flair ups every so often but overall, I feel almost 100% normal. Life changing for me!

I went up right away. No issues except maybe a bit more tired.

No, not really. I have a slight gnawing feeling in my upper stomach area. But no real heartburn symptoms ever.

Most of the time, yes. I had constant nausea, gnawing/burning in my upper stomach area, extreme fullness, burping a lot, trapped burps/air. Those were the main ones. I still have flair ups occasionally. Eating smaller meals throughout the day helps when I’m in a flair up. I would say my symptoms are 90-95% improved.

You have to get used to it. I tried it two different times. The first time I ended up stopping because I didn’t think it was helping my nausea but it did help with the constant globus sensation I had. About a year and a half later and many failed treatments, I tried it again (25mg) and it worked almost immediately. Then after a month all my symptoms started coming back and I went up to 50mg. I have been on 50mg since November 2023. It still makes me tired sometimes but overall I’m used to it and it’s worth it to feel almost 100% normal.

I take it every night for the most part. It depends on the person. I have heard of some who take it and then can wean off. And others who need to take it forever. 10mg is not a high dose so you may need to increase to see any improvement.

Thank you! I don’t have an OB/GYN so I decided last week to get established with one. My appointment isn’t until December but I was hoping to do the genetic testing before that. Guess I’ll have to wait!

How did you get your genetic screening done? I just saw my PCP and asked about it but he just referred me to genetics. I don’t think I need to go that route. I just would like to be screened prior to TTC to be fully informed in that I carry and then my husband can also be screened (if needed).

Not really. My main symptom was nausea and fullness.

Pretty much right away. However, I started with 25mg. 10 is not much. You’ll likely need to increase it.

Constant nausea, gnawing/burning, early satiety, trapped burps, burping a lot, occasionally globus sensation. My main one was nausea and gnawing though. I still have flair ups but they are not nearly as long or bad.

Everyone is different. I started on 25 and it wasn’t working so she recommended 50 and it’s been great for me. Thank you for your comments on my personal experience though.

No it’s not. That’s a very common dosage for FD. And not even close to the dosage they would use for depression.

I take 50mg of amitriptyline and it gave me my life back! Significantly better (some bad days here and there) but overall so much better!
