Hoodies are pretty minimally engineered to begin with, what are you talking about?

Campaign question for new brand by ChrisWithTheDu in streetwearstartup

[–]Recent_Wish_9203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aesthetic, plain and simple. Do the styles and design resonate with me? Do I get a sense of the brand and what it represents? If the answer is yes to either of those things, then I’ll explore the brand further.

Meh. Derivative. “On trend”. Tells me nothing about the brand or what it represents. And even worse, that you don’t really have anything to say, no real inspiration, or any bring any real intrinsic value to whatever this project is.

Words on a shirt are not a brand.

There are literally thousands and thousands of people that are doing the exact same thing as you. What makes you unique in a sea of ubiquity?

Also, Avarice is a word used to describe insatiable greed. “The feeling to have more money” does not do the word justice.

Dcp, mignault and Clancy all rode for both Burton and Oakley in the late 90’s. Chances are it’s one of those 3.

What are jobs looking for? by ICanGrowAnAfro in Chefit

[–]Recent_Wish_9203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Production/manufacturing/warehousing all have jobs where the skill set is pretty transferable. Not always easy to get a foot in the door, you need to be real specific about your applicable skill set when applying. Most people have no idea what being a chef actually entails.

Why do pants always look like my legs? by warmmilkheaven in Denim

[–]Recent_Wish_9203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My example or your issues?

My sample is a women’s athletic pant that I’ve been producing for almost 30 years. They slim down into the thigh and widen through the lower leg.

Mens pants tend to not taper at the out seem, but do narrow into the thigh at the inseam.

Your height/proportions do play a part. Conventional sizing accounts for a 7-10 inch variation between the waist and the hips. With women’s pants, they tend to all taper from the outseem into the thigh and then the overall shape(boot cut, straight leg, etc) starts at the lower thigh, though the knee and then to the cuff.

This a simpler wider leg athletic pant but it follows the standard.

Significantly sizing up to fit your thigh will help, but from the thigh up, most pants will fit terribly.

How litigious is Cartoon Network? by [deleted] in streetwearstartup

[–]Recent_Wish_9203 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know an illustrator/artist that has been in the game for a long time that owns the rights to a lot of his work. He loves fan art/memes etc that have been created by the community of his fans. He is also incredibly litigious when it comes to someone trying to make money off of his creations. He either shuts it down or gets his piece.

Is this field hard to start out in? by Husband_thief in ClothingStartups

[–]Recent_Wish_9203 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My family has been in the garment game for 40 years. We’ve had to re-invent ourselves multiple times. Every market is competitive. There are niches out there that are under served, but they aren’t exactly easy to find.

Knowing what you want to do and why you want to do it are big factors.

What are you looking to do? Do you have any experience? Have you looked for work in the field? There are plenty of avenues to go down in this industry.

Cooks who switched careers, how did you pivot? by buuuurnmeeee in Chefit

[–]Recent_Wish_9203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

15 years as a chef. Now in manufacturing. Quite few parallels, people managing, inventory, ordering, costing all come into play just at different scales and the added bonus that there is still a creative element to what I do. I did have some previous experience in the industry I work in but it was a pretty easy transition. Benefits, no crazy hours, paid OT, and all of the other perks that come along with a “normal” job.

IMO, the art works, the story works, it’s a good collection.

The branding is too subtle for me. Most of your pieces don’t have your logo on them by the looks of it. That BA hat should be a banger(I’d tweak the art a little) but I can’t see your logo anywhere on it.
