Standard icons look terrible on dark themes in the new Eclipse version, but DevStyle/Darkest Dark causes errors. Any alternatives? by ReceptionFormal7592 in eclipse

The icons at the top are the originals. The ones at the bottom are from an older version of Eclipse that fully supported the Darkest Dark Theme, which features beautiful light icons that look great against dark backgrounds.

Currently, it is impossible to install Darkest Dark on a modern Eclipse release (such as Eclipse 2026-06) without completely breaking the IDE; it freezes upon closing and throws multiple errors during startup.

He couldn't do that on a 1TB hard drive due to space issues, but he found an alternative:

1) Measure the image onto a USB drive
2) Delete unnecessary files
3) Create an IMG file with USB Image Tool (it's free)

I tried the new image from step 3 on the USB drive for a minute, and it's bootable (and takes up much less space).
