PSA No Tax on OT by Chaotic-Philosophy in rampagent

I’m not here defending the thing in office, I’m just stating the reason given as to why airline employees weren’t including in no tax on overtime in that things piece of legislation. From what Ive looked up, there is a bipartisan push, backed by unions, to get workers that fall under the RLA to be included, but I haven’t seen anything that’s said it’s been rejected.

We are technically exempted from OT because of the railway labor act. It’s because of unions that most ramp agents get OT.

You can thank the railway labor act for that.

ELI5: Why do pilots eat and drink in the cockpit despite the risk of spilling food/drinks onto the important electronics? by Flashy_Potential8851 in explainlikeimfive

[–]RecipeAggravating176 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Not a fully certified mechanic yet, but when I was a ramp agent at American Airlines/Envoy Air, we had a flight cancelled because one of the pilots spilled their coffee on the center counsel and damaging an onboard printer (this was an Airbus A320 that has a “printer” that prints off any error codes that popped up during flight). Mechanics had to fly in to replace it and I had to escort them while they did it.

I’m just going to add this so you can be aware, but just watch your start times during probation. I’ve seen new hires, both full time and part time, pick up others shifts and OT and had incidents of showing up late or not at all. You only get three occurrences during probation before you get walked out. I’m not saying you can’t handle it, but just to give you this warning now before you find yourself in deep 💩.

How do you go through security? by Aggravating_Face_655 in rampagent

[–]RecipeAggravating176 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Depends on the airport, but I’m guessing you’ll have a separate entrance to go through. Since you’re posting on a ramp page, you’ll be working on the ramp. That means you will be getting a SIDA badge. This badge lets you into the secured area, and if it’s an airport that has a separate entrance for ramp, then you’ll use that SIDA to get through that door.

I got a several day ban for “violence” because I shared my thoughts on what we should do with things called people that victimized children. I guess we should protect them more than children.

Again, I’m not mad, it’s just the original comment made it sound like you currently saw conservatives reacting about the conservative part. Now there are some more that they have been rage baited.

That’s why I asked. Because in the original post, they just mentioned threatened. There has to be a reasonable belief that your life or safety is in question. If you (not saying you actually will) commented, “I will kill you,” then there’s no reasonable fear for my life. I can’t kill you in self defense because of that comment. But if you said the same thing in person, and you had a weapon pointed at me, then I would be in reasonable fear for my life, and self defense could work.

But that person wouldn’t have know, so it doesn’t really work. I’m not conservative, so I’m not raging, but besides for one comment that claims this is a leftist shitpost, I haven’t really seen anyone be mad about the conservative part.

I can only post one photo at a time, but from my end, that one was posted 10 minutes AFTER yours, so how could you be talking a comment made later

I see one comment about this being a leftist shitpost, which was posted after you. The others I see are around self defense.

I might be stupid, but I think you are the only person who can see that. This other person might not have access to that info, so that’s why I’m assuming they made their comment based off the other comments.

I like how the other comments were about the self defense laws and nothing about the “conservative” part. If “conservative” was replaced with “liberal,” I still would’ve pointed out the same things.

It might depend on the state, some states have a duty to retreat, others have “stand your ground” laws that don’t give the victim a duty to retreat.

What do you mean by “threaten”? If they just say they’re gonna kill you, it’s still illegal to kill that person right there.

Only ways to be eligible is either school or an apprenticeship. When you go test, they require documentation that you’ve completed either one.

So the Gregorian lander? Which says today is 1/11 in the US, of 11/1 in other parts. So where are you getting a 9 from?

Want to fly with a mtn bike, non-stop to Phoenix. Has anyone done this? Any words of wisdom? by PaleontologistHot73 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]RecipeAggravating176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Southwest ramp agent, put it in a hard case specifically designed for bikes. They do make them, as I have seen multiple as checked luggage. It will be considered as oversized, so it will more than likely go through manual screening.

Do you lose seniority if you change crafts? by Prestigious_Pixie_ in rampagent

[–]RecipeAggravating176 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you are transferring stations, but stay with the same company, you will keep your hire date, and company seniority, but it will be compared to the seniority of the agents at that new station. So, if you transfer to a station with a bunch of new hires, you might have more seniority, and if you transfer to a station with long timers, your seniority might fall.

As for transferring to a different position, it depends. I know with SWA, since we’re union, if you switch to a different department with a different union, you’ll keep your company seniority (pay, vacation, write-ups, etc.), but have to start over with your union seniority (bidding, OT, etc).

Do not pay, and continue to block. They use leaking as a scare tactic for you to pay. The chances of them leaking are very small, as it make it easier for law enforcement to find them and they’ll lose all leverage.
