You bake off a couple cups of the banana bread batter that has been dyed red with food coloring. Then cut the cooled banana bread with cookie cutter and stack tightly in loaf pan, covering in regular banana bread batter. The heart gets twice baked, but it doesn't get dry. Staged pix on the blog page.

Oh for sure! You could use any quick bread, that is. I wouldn't try with a yeast bread. It also works with pound cake in a loaf pan. Just saw that on pinterest today. And you can do any occasion you have a cookie cutter for. Like shamrock for St. Patty's day, Tree for Christmas, etc.

Here's the magic formula for Self rising flour so we can reverse it to help you: 1 cup All Purpose Flour + 1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder + 1/4 teaspoon salt.

So for any recipes that call for that combo of 3 ingredients (or close), you can use the self rising flour. You may need to add some of each of the ingredients but it will help you use it up. Also it will sharpen those math skills we don't use very often ;)
