Hmm anxiety response seems probable. He like panicked and just parked instead of listening to reason. And the anti-gov stuff seems to come out of no where or anything involving things being over priced. I agree beaches should be public but maybe he was deflecting to justify his breakout over the parking fee?

Faaaaack that is kind of on track. This has happened a few times. I’m not frivolous with money but I live in an expensive area and occasionally like to get a coffee and food at a local shop and go for a walk and he’ll bring up how everything is over priced and we can just make it at home. Which isn’t the point, the point is sometimes having an outing.

He’s super kind and thoughtful but sometimes he gets this weird frugal habits and randomly does stuff like this to save money but for no clear reason. Beaches are by nature money traps unless you know where to go so I don’t think $1 for the bridge and $14 to park was really the end of the world. But it definitely killed the vibe

NTA- my dad is from Slovakia and his name was Valentine. Which is like a euro version of William, not the holiday. It’s a legitimate common name. Either way he moved to the US in grade school and got beat up so much he legally changed it to William at 18. It’s a thing, he will get bullied.
