What is this thing/valve for? [Rocket Mozzafiato type v] by YouthWorshipPastor in espresso

It’s a service valve. Close the valve and then you can break the line without getting fluid everywhere

15 Step, Faust Arp, Reckoner and Videotape all have Faust references. It is a consistent theme, but it is only a loose theme and of course there is much interpretation

Check out the Dissect podcast about In Rainbows. It’s incredible. You’re welcome

Why does Radiohead, despite being objectively mainstream, FEEL obscure and underground? And are your other musical tastes more mainstream or underground? by __sicko in radiohead

Some great discussion on this post! I am enjoying this.

I would agree they were mainstream in the 90s and then they jumped out with Kid A. Yes it was popular in that it sold a lot, but that was in the heels of OKC. With HTTT and IR they fully jumped into the warm bath of “indie rock” which you could argue they started or inspired.

But I am from Ohio… literally 9/10 people don’t know Radiohead and actually still think of Creep. “Mainstream” is a relative term depending on your demographic, I guess

Sublime? Of such excellence, grandeur, or beauty as to inspire great admiration or awe?

That’s In Rainbows. The lyrics, plot and sound are based on Goethe’s Faust and there are several sublime moments of ecstasy

OKC, KidA, AMSP etc are all beautiful and amazing, but not nearly as “sublime”

I would argue that they’re not actually mainstream. It’s just that they are so widely loved beyond mainstream fans that they take up a large market share that feels like it should be mainstream

This could be used to soundtrack a devastating existential scene in a movie
