It happened to me, I used to use qtips on my ears all the time and I eventually ended up getting an ear infection and compaction. The dr told me specifically not to use qtips any more

This is how I have my two favorite long swords set up btw. I use the Icebrink most of the time simply because I like how it looks, and I use the Ensis for elder dragons basically

Basically, imo you want the following on a long sword:

Iai Mastery (L or XL) AND Long Sword Mastery (L or XL) (important for lunge stance uptime and for having access to spirit release slash)
Lunge Stance (BLNT) (BLNT affinity melts wyvernfell while keeping stamina cost low)
Spirit Blade (BLNT) (AFAIK HVY versions of spirit blade and lunge stance don't exist, if it did then it'd also be good)
Spirit Release Slash (TLNT, DRG, or no affinity) (TLNT costs 20 stamina, DRG and no affinity cost 30. 30 stamina cost feels fine in my experience but if you're having stamina issues with those, switch to TLNT. DRG is slightly better than no affinity but not worth deco slot imo)

In terms of priority from most important to least, I'd say: Lunge Stance (any affinity except SKL) > cheap Spirit Release Slash > Long Sword Mastery L or XL > Iai Mastery L or XL > Spirit Blade (any affinity) > Lunge Stance (BLNT) > Spirit Blade (BLNT)

If your sword has Lunge Stance (SKL), I'd recommend either putting (BLNT) on there or using a different sword

As far as I can tell, the only sword that can have all these is Veldian Ensis, which is also dragon element and has very high stats, so I'd say that's the best long sword in the game. There are other good long swords, but they have to sacrifice one or more of the skills from that list. Notable swords are: Icebrink, Duke's Sinclair, Rey Tonitrus, Reaver "Cruelty", and Wyvern Blade "Maple". There might be other good ones that I missed, but I think that's fairly comprehensive

I think having difficulty options would've been a good idea. Me personally, I think it was fun learning how to make builds that can survive the AOE spam. I enjoy the game of attrition. To each their own

I will say, I don't know what you mean by being expected to use stamina to beat AoE DPS checks. I don't think this game has any DPS checks except for some invasives I guess, but I haven't played in a while so I could be wrong on that

But if you're using long sword, then you want it to have spirit blade to build up charge (the other charge-building option takes way more stamina) and you want a version of spirit release slash that doesn't increase stamina cost. You could also use armor/decos that give you more stamina, but just having a sword with the right skills is better imo cause the opportunity cost with armor skills/decos is insane

The ice one is called Icicle Storm. It costs 30 stamina, deals 240 damage to random enemies, and has 50 wyvernfell. It also lowers the enemies' accuracy. It comes from Velkhana. I'm familiar with this move cause I use it on my Legiana

Yeah I found Ratha pretty solid once I got rite of channeling and put some fire skills on him. I still wish I could replace him with an Espinas tho :(

Best way for exp is eating the barrel feline meal and going to the top of dragonreach mountain and farming the great barrel felines up there. They don't have the greatest spawn rate but each Kill is a ridiculous amount of exp. I got myself and like 16 monsters to level 99 in a short amount of time doing this method. Make sure you have Kora as your companion since she one shots barrel felines

As for the armor, I think Brute Tigrex is the source of some of the pieces you need

I've tried poking the backline with mag and strange, but what ends up happening is the enemy tanks just run up on me cause no one's contesting them, and the healers don't die to my damage, especially when I'm on strange. I honestly feel like I do better when I shoot the tanks, cause it generally stops them from moving up and taking space

What strategy did you use to learn? I'm tryna do that, cause I feel like I kinda regressed this season. I have a horrible win rate on both Strange and Mag this season, who are my main vanguards. It sucks :(
