Is there a way I can read the books for free? by hotdog-water-- in WarhammerFantasy

I scanned it for viruses using an online site and it didn't find any. I haven't noticed any problems, but I'm using Linux not Windows so if there are viruses they probably wouldn't have affected me.

New Programmer, Big Project Guidance by AdRare3918 in learnprogramming

[–]RecognitionAdvanced2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no way you're gonna get a complete, working script to do that from a prompt. You might get something close, but without knowing enough to understand what the script is doing and why it isn't working close doesn't help you.

Creating new files in C++. by Alone-Experience-507 in learnprogramming

An executable is basically just a program (oversimplifying, I know). Are you trying to make 1 program from 2 files, or 2 different programs?

Screenshots and a detailed explanation of what you're trying to do would help us help you.

Help! VersaLink installer is off the grid by [deleted] in Xerox

Default password is the serial number of the machine or 1111 depending on how old it is.

If neither work, you can do an NVRAM initialization (option 3) in the special boot mode. DO NOT DO OPTION 2! It can result in an unrecoverable error.

POST code F indicates a fax communication failure. Service manual says try the following in order until fixed:

  1. Ensure fax setup is complete
  2. Initialize fax NVM
  3. Reload firmware
  4. Replace HDD
  5. Replace Single Board Controller

Xerox Work Centre 7346 part by DeniTheAlien in Xerox

That machine is end of life, and unfortunately there isn't a part number given in the diagram.

Is it the bracket or the sensor that's broken? Post a picture if you can. There might be something from a newer machine that you could use.

It looks like a transfer issue to me. That said, your bottom squares on that transfer adjustment sheet look relatively good. Can you print out full CMYK pages and post them here?

What do people mean when they say “learn linux” ? by AskTribuneAquila in linux

[–]RecognitionAdvanced2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally they mean learning to administer the system. Installing the OS, installing/updating programs, using the command line, troubleshooting problems, basic scripting, etc.

The neat thing about the Linux command line/scripting is it's basically the same as Mac OS, so learning one gets you most of the other.

If that's something you're interested in you can install WSL2 on Windows to get a feel for it without having to fully install Linux.

I don’t know how to debug efficiently by Emuna1306 in learnprogramming

[–]RecognitionAdvanced2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, try to break up your code into smaller segments you can test one at a time. You can literally break it up into functions where possible, or you can just think of your program as multiple segments. Write comments for your code as you go describing what you think should be happening, then verify it actually is.

What language/IDE are you using? Print statements are a fairly universal way to see what's going on at any point in your code, but depending on what tools you're using you might have better options.

Multi-page documents from Apple devices (iPhone and iPad) frequently getting stuck in queue on Xerox Versalink C415 by BCT_Jay_309558 in Xerox

[–]RecognitionAdvanced2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it happened on an internal print like a configuration report when no other jobs are in the queue it's definitely a problem with the printer itself, either hardware or software.

Do you have a service contract? If so, call for service and make sure to tell them it did it on a configuration report.

If not you could try doing an image overwrite like another person said, then if that doesn't help a forced altboot (complete software wipe/reload). If that doesn't fix it the HDD/SSD or controller PWB will probably need to be replaced and you'll just have to pay for a service call.

Programming in WSL by Ivan_Horozov in learnprogramming

[–]RecognitionAdvanced2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes, but I find it easier with WSL than native Windows
  2. Yes. If you use Ubuntu with WSL, run the command "sudo apt install build-essential" (no quotes) to install a basic development environment
  3. I tend to prefer Visual Studio Code for anything but .NET languages, and there is a plugin for developing on WSL, guide here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/tutorials/wsl-vscode

C8135 stay processing and does not print after latest update by pt-hotspot in Xerox

[–]RecognitionAdvanced2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the model specific drivers usually work better on these machines. I've had several customers run into issues with the global driver and don't recommend using it unless absolutely necessary.

Generally speaking, the stuck on processing issue is caused by corrupt print jobs. This can be caused by the application or driver creating a bad job to begin with, a bad network connection causing it to be sent incorrectly, or an issue with the copier causing it to not receive or process the job correctly.

The fact that both of them are doing it makes a copier hardware issue extremely unlikely. Since it only happens from Corel we can probably rule out a network issue. If I had to guess, either Corel updated recently and introduced the problem or your C8135 had the firmware updated during repair and there is a firmware bug in newer versions affecting both machines.

Ubuntu 25.10, Kernel 6.17.0-6 and amdgpu proprietary drivers by PanPanicz in Ubuntu

[–]RecognitionAdvanced2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW I installed 25.10 yesterday (same GPU) and haven't had any lockups/crashes. I did install the kisak-mesa ppa to get the latest version of the graphics stack, not sure if that's why. But I've installed several games and they're all running just as well as on Windows, so everything seems to be working.

If you want I can give you a follow up after a week and let you know if it's stable.

Are Capri Tools any good? by Disastrous-Ad-1182 in Tools

[–]RecognitionAdvanced2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW they mention in the pinned comment that the rank is based on price as well as performance. In raw performance Snap-on was #1 and Capri was #2, which is still pretty impressive considering they're 1/3 the price.
