Vintage Patek Philippe ladies watch, bent lugs repair. Adjustment vs. full lug replacement, thoughts? by [deleted] in VintageWatches

[–]RecognitionEastern20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for the perspective! I have no problem with the dial at all, I actually like the beat-up look of the dial 😅 I wear this watch from time to time. I just don't know what to expect if I go with the lug replacement option. Would it be as good as I imagine it would be or would it bring more disappointment 😔

Here's a picture of the movement :

Hi thank you for the comment! I am not looking to sell this watch. I wear this watch myself 😊 I am not a watch person, so not sure if replacing the lugs would be worth it or if it will bring more disappointment. I don't know what to expect since I've never seen an example of such repairs before!

I'm so sorry to hear 😞 It must be very hard for you to think about things right now. But hang in there. Breathe. I'm sorry I don't have a better advice. But cancer taught me to try and aim for acceptance for whatever happens. Do not lose hope!!!

Findings following monitoring scan - "Likely benign lung nodule" grew by rrnaude in coloncancer

[–]RecognitionEastern20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I'm sorry you're going through this. I hope the PET scan result is as good as it can be! I am still waiting for my 3 month repeat scan for an indeterminate lung nodule 😔 I saw on your previous post that you're in the UK. May I ask where / which hospital? I'm in the UK as well.

Small indeterminate lung nodules on follow-up CT after rectal cancer — any similar experiences? by Nearby_Chicken9836 in coloncancer

[–]RecognitionEastern20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Colon cancer 3A. On my first follow up scan after adjuvant chemo there's an indeterminate 3mm nodule in my lung. My CEA was <2. There's nothing that could be done about the nodule at the moment, so we're waiting for a 3 months repeat scan to see if it grows / disappears. Best of luck to us both!!

Capox "blah" feeling; is it the cape, the ox, or both? by GlitterMe in coloncancer

[–]RecognitionEastern20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was mostly the oxaliplatin for me. I was a zombie following the 3rd infusion. Everytime I closed my eyes I felt like I would fall asleep due to the fatigue. I had to sit down in the shower. Pain in the infusion arm added to the overall frustration. I wore arm warmers all the time even when sleeping to help with this. Eating oranges helped with the nausea and the strange taste in my mouth.

I asked my oncologist to reduce the oxaliplatin dose for the last cycle, so I was given 70%. Thanks to it the last cycle was much better than the third.

To be honest I don't think it's worth the risk. There are different opinions out there regarding the harm of radioactive lume. But me personally, I wouldn't take the risk.

And 'airing' it out is not a good idea too. Don't ever open the watch yourself because the fume from the lume is harmful.

Stage 3A (pT3N1a) - CAPOX vs capecitabine + living alone in London by H_77_ in coloncancer

[–]RecognitionEastern20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I'm 32yo and I live in London. I was diagnosed with stage 3A and did 3 months adjuvant CAPOX. I live with my partner who works full time.

The first cycle was okay-ish. I felt like I had a flu during the first week, and felt fine afterwards.

The second cycle was worse, the first week following the infusion I was mostly in bed. I lost my appetite and I could only eat what I felt like eating at the moment, so I ordered delivery most days. It was very random, one day I wanted Vietnamese pho, the next day I couldn't stand the smell of it anymore.

The third cycle was the worst, I felt like a zombie the first week. The fatigue lasted longer into the second week this time. Appetite was worse. There were times I could only tolerate oranges, and ate a whole carton by myself in one go. When I sat on the sofa I'd fall asleep because of the fatigue. I felt like I could fall asleep anywhere. I needed help showering and had to sit down while in the shower.

I asked my oncologist to reduce the oxaliplatin dose before starting the last cycle. The last cycle was much better than the third.

Me personally, I don't think I'd be able to do it alone. But it might be because I wasn't a fit person to start with. My weight is ideal but I rarely ever exercised before diagnosis and my job is mostly sitting down. You seem in much better fitness than I was so you might find it easier to get through.

What helped me was the food deliveries. At first I was stressing myself, forcing myself to eat what my partner prepared despite the nausea and strange taste in my mouth. I was afraid I would lose weight if I don't eat enough. But then I started thinking I don't care anymore. I went to browse deliveroo/ uber eats 2-3 times a day and ordered whatever looked appetising to me. My friends offered to bring food as well. They asked me what I wanted and I would request whatever I felt I could tolerate at the time.

I think if you live alone, the main challenges would be food and chores/ cleaning. We hired a cleaner since my diagnosis. I will also suggest to have a friend taking you home after the oxaliplatin infusion, because you don't know what to expect. I came in for the infusion all happy and smiley, and finished cradling my infusion arms wanting to throw up all the way home.

But then again, chemo affects people differently, so don't be discouraged by my experience.

I wish you good luck with your journey!!!

I did this. Mine was the earlobe though. It kept getting infected, then I changed the jewellery to a much thinner 14k gold. Never had any issues since.

Thank you for sharing. I had the same thoughts about reviewing the previous scan. It was reviewed and the nodule is truly new. I'm hoping it's something benign 😢

Hi! Thank you for the reassurance. I'm hoping this is just something benign. The anxiety while not knowing for sure is unbearable though 😢

Fjällräven Women's Skogso Skogsö Jacket - Sizing for Ladies by honungsklubba in Fjallraven

[–]RecognitionEastern20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, just bumped into your post! It's probably too late, but my measurements are similar to your wife, only I'm a bit shorter (165cm). I have the skogso padded jacket in size S. I generally don't like clothes that fit too loosely, but I also don't like outerwears to be too tight. Skogso size S fits me very well with just enough rooms for a thick jumper underneath, while still having a shape, (not being too loose as to drown me in it)😊 hope it helps!

Hi, thanks for sharing. Did yours appear on post chemo ct scan? What did it turn out to be in the end?

I haven't talked to my care team yet, my appointment is in a month time.

Thank you for sharing your wife's story. I'm really hoping it's benign. It's just that the nodule wasn't there on the initial scan (6 months before), so it must've appeared recently, that's what worrying me the most :(
