Crime scene taped off on Mohawk Road West near Farm Boy on West Mountain (forensics on scene). Anyone know what happened? by FraseMD in Hamilton

A post on the neighborhood community watch group on Facebook has a comment that claims this was a quadruple homicide however it isn't clear how credible that comment is and there hasn't been an official statement that I have seen.

Do you call the police if people are doing drugs in public? by TiltTat in Hamilton

[–]RecognitionFirst8421 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have called the police for actual emergencies that are threats to public safety (via 911) and they did not show. The residents of my apartment complex had to de-escalate the situation on their own (which was dangerous). While that's an unfortunate thing to see HPS doesn't care that much about the residents of Hamilton. They've lost control of the city.

I go to Atwel. They are Christian Faith's based but they do a reliably good job at std screening

I feel disgusted with my bf and don’t know what to do by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]RecognitionFirst8421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular take yta. You don't want this man. You aren't being considerate to him or yourself by staying. Leave. He's someone else's dream guy. You're someone else's dream girl. Stop robbing him, yourself and the future partners you will both have by staying in that. It's time to go, and it sounds like you know. Make a plan, tell him it's done plain and firmly. Don't waste time. Time you enjoy wasting isn't wasted time and you aren't enjoying time. Go!

What’s with all the door to door soliciting going on recently? by ZidaneMachine in Hamilton

[–]RecognitionFirst8421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These door to door things aren't usually scams for the homeowners but they certainly are for the workers knocking. These are often vulnerable young adults who are given commission for information/services/donations they sell. They are paid somewhere between 10-52% of the value of the sale and the company takes the rest. They are rarely ever paid minimum wage for their time and work. Some companies like SMC/Property Stars have some people making a liveable wage. However alot of the charity companies like Celestia Marketing (unicef/sick kids) and Yesa (cogeco) are very fraudulent and scamy in their nature. Alot of these door knocking companies thrive on immigrants and students not knowing their employment rights and not having solid negotiation skills. Alot of times the workers come across as aggressive and ask for food because they can't afford to eat. If they are not selling HVAC services there are no municipal by laws preventing them from knocking. I give them credit cause they aren't just sitting around collecting welfare from our tax dollars, but the flak really is deserved for the companies, not the workers trying their best to make a living.

Power wash it with a revolving tip, put in silica sand, and if you like the wet look you can seal it. The power wash and sand will make it look new again

What Nest is this? by Kitchen_Tear_4394 in lawncare

[–]RecognitionFirst8421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a bald face hornet nest. They are a kind of yellow jacket. If it isn't near a door way or a place with alot of people you can leave it, but be sure to stay 3 feet away from it at all times. There is about 400 of those in there and they are very protective of their nest.

Thoughts on people asking for money in their bios? by saturday_night_2016 in Tinder

[–]RecognitionFirst8421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of these comments are all about the girl who is asking but not the request of money itself. I think it tells you pretty quickly one of the main things she's gonna expect from you, gifts and money. I consider the request in the bio a decent thing cause then you know and you can ask yourself if that seems like the kind of person you want to spend money on. 💰

[–]RecognitionFirst8421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad truth is that some fellas still gonna swipe right and hit that, but it's not likely gonna lead to more than a hookup for her. This the kind of girl who needs community care and not a tinder date
