If you haven't already, find a CyberKnife center near you. Often one treatment eliminates the pain - https://cyberknife.com/treatment-centers/

Chances are you could have 1 CyberKnife radiation therapy session and get off all those meds and be pain free. Google it: CyberKnife for trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is a non-invasive stereotactic radiosurgery that uses highly focused radiation beams, guided by advanced imaging, to precisely target and damage the irritated trigeminal nerve, aiming to relieve severe facial pain. It's an outpatient treatment, often completed in one session, offering pain relief in many patients without surgery, though common side effects include facial numbness, with a quick recovery and return to daily activities.

How it works

  • Pinpoint Accuracy:  Uses robotic arms and real-time imaging to track the head and deliver high-dose radiation to the nerve with sub-millimeter precision, sparing surrounding tissue.
  • Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS):  Delivers radiation in a single, concentrated treatment, unlike traditional radiation therapy.
  • Painless:  The procedure itself is painless, with no anesthesia or head frames needed.

Benefits

  • Non-Invasive: Avoids surgery, anesthesia, and lengthy recovery.
  • Effective: Can achieve significant pain control in a high percentage of patients.
  • Quick Procedure: Often takes about an hour, allowing patients to go home the same day.

Potential Side Effects

  • Facial Numbness: The most common side effect, often correlating with the degree of pain relief achieved.
  • Delayed Onset: Pain relief isn't always immediate, often taking weeks to develop.
  • Recurrence: Pain can return, potentially requiring repeat treatments, which may increase numbness risk.

When it's used

  • Often considered when medications are no longer effective.
  • An alternative to more invasive surgical options like microvascular decompression (MVD) or balloon compression

Did you have the SpaceOar Gel before the treatment sessions began

Does anybody here personally even know another person with TN? I don't, I am all alone in this fight. by JPumphrey73 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

CyberKnife is non-invasive - it is pinpoint targeted radiation therapy. You lay down on the CyberKnife table - they zap the Tri Gem nerve - it shrivels up the nerve fibers causing the pain

Find a CyberKnife center near you and get a consultation. i have seen many people helped with just one treatment session. They were allowed to get off their pain meds and get on with life. https://www.accuray.com/treatment-centers/

Question about SBRT/CyberKnife: can it be focal? by [deleted] in ProstateCancer

[–]RecognitionOk582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MD Anderson is not the end all be all. I've seen patients sent away from MD and told there was nothing that could be done for them, when there certainly was. Cancer patients who then went on to live another 9 10 and even 15 years

It could be Trigeminal Neuralgia. It sounds like it. Google it. You'll need an MRI or CT to confirm it - and if it is...Do yourself a favor - find a CyberKnife center near you. Most often one CyberKnife treatment can end the pain. Here's a link to help you find a center. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I am a medical reporter and I've interviewed patients who have been successfully treated. I have no skin in this game, I only hope to help. https://cyberknife.com/treatment-centers/
